Hammad : "Zimbabwe would have been leading were it not for all those byes" Yeah, 42 byes and 59 extras in total. Whew. Gotta say a lot of it was because of bowlers missing their line but Madande, the keeper on debut, didn't have a great time either

7:07pm, Day 2, Innings break The whole game has been a curate's omelette so far. And Andrew Leonard says there's a bit of drizzle back. A lead of 40 could be handy for Ireland but they, like Zimbabwe, might have left at least 50 runs out there after a fantastic start. From a more recent standpoint, they'd be thrilled with the 47-run stand for the last wicket between McBrine and Humphreys, who were both at their adventurous best. Some of the shots were spectacular.

Chatara to McBrine, OUT, Seamed back in, given lbw! Was height an issue? What about impact? Doesn't matter as there's no DRS McBrine's a bit sheepish as he punches his partner's gloves but he's done his job. Was a length ball that landed around fourth and hit on the back leg. Maybe just over the pad after beating McBrine, who tried to defend it straight but was late in bringing the bat down. Popped off the keeper too

Chatara to Humphreys, 1 run, Ireland bring up 250, again seemed impossible a little while back. Was a full ball though, change of length, outside off which was driven to deep point

Chatara to Humphreys, 2 runs, Decent connection on the pull. Enough to get it into the outfield at least. Easy two. Wonder if banging into the pitch will be Chatara's go-to ploy this over

Chivanga to Humphreys, 1 run, Attempted yorker. Not a bad option but it ended up being a low full toss on leg stump. Clipped to midwicket

Chivanga to Humphreys, no run, Tries to pull the shortish ball. Didn't seem to get bat on it, ball dribbles off the body to the leg side

Chivanga to Humphreys, no run, Beaten on the cut. The shot was on. This was shortish around seventh stumps. Humphreys slashed with all his might, probably the best he coulda done

Chivanga to McBrine, 1 run, Length outside off, steered to deep point

Chivanga to McBrine, FOUR, Uses the angle, helps it through long leg with the pull. Around a back of length at the hip, McBrine looked comfortable playing that

Chivanga to McBrine, 2 runs, Opens the face and stabs it through third off the back foot. Length ball on fifth angling in but McBrine up to it
