College football recruiting is meant to fill holes on the roster, prevent any voids in talent and build the team that each coaching staff is looking to put out on the field position by position.
With only two months remaining until the early signing period in December, many of the position groups have taken shape, and some teams have recruited better than others within those specific positions.
Here is a look at which teams have the best talent committed at each position, and what they're bringing in with this 2020 class.
Quarterback

Texas A&M
The Aggies have the highest-ranked quarterback in the class with Haynes King, the No. 1-ranked dual-threat quarterback and No. 18 overall prospect. He's only a few spots away from having five stars and is the highest-ranked commit in the Texas A&M class.

Clemson
The Tigers have the No. 1-ranked pocket passer in the class with D.J. Uiagalelei out of California. Uiagalelei is the No. 48 prospect overall, and at 6-foot-5, 243 pounds, he has great size for the position. Once Uiagalelei arrives at campus, Trevor Lawrence will be entering his third season with a chance that he leaves for the NFL after that. Clemson signed ESPN 300 quarterback Taisun Phommachanh in the 2019 class, Lawrence in 2018 and Chase Brice in 2017, so Uiagalelei is coming in at a good time to continue the quarterback success once Lawrence is gone.
Others
LSU and Iowa State should be mentioned in this category as well. LSU has ESPN 300 quarterback Max Johnson, the No. 5 pocket-passing quarterback, and four-star T.J. Finley. Iowa State has two ESPN 300 quarterbacks with Hunter Dekkers and Aidan Bouman, who are the Nos. 11 and 19 pocket-passing quarterbacks, respectively. Texas has Hudson Card committed, who is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and someone who could boost the Longhorns' offense after Sam Ehlinger leaves the program.
Running back

Oklahoma
The Sooners having success with offensive players is shocking, we know. Lincoln Riley and his staff are reloading the running back position in this class with Jase McClellan and Seth McGowan. McClellan is the No. 2-ranked back in 2020 and the No. 20 overall prospect, while McGowan is the 15th-rated running back and the No. 144 overall recruit. The staff landed ESPN 300 running back Marcus Major and junior college prospect Rhamondre Stevenson in 2019, as well as T.J. Pledger in 2018, so the running back room will have a lot of options going forward.

Florida State
FSU has a pair of ESPN 300 running backs as well in Jaylan Knighton and Lawrence Toafili. Knighton is a 5-foot-9, 185-pound back who is ranked as the No. 11 back in the country, while the 6-foot, 175-pound Toafili is the No. 14 back. Those two should complement each other well within the offense and provide some extra help in the running back room.
Others
Texas has had a lot of success with running backs in this 2020 class, battling Ohio State for Bijan Robinson, the No. 5 running back, and getting a commitment from four-star Ty Jordan. Robinson is an outstanding back who should be able to contribute early at Texas. Clemson also has done well at this position, with DeMarkcus Bowman and Kobe Pryor committed. It's no surprise with the success of Travis Etienne that Clemson would be able to get top backs. Bowman is the No. 4 running back and Pryor is ranked as a four-star outside the ESPN 300.
Wide receiver

Ohio State
The Buckeyes are filling their future receiver room with stars from this 2019 class. They have four ESPN 300 prospects and one four-star outside the 300. More impressive than that, three of the four in the ESPN 300 are inside the top 150. The highest-ranked commit is Julian Fleming, who is the No. 1 receiver in the class, a five-star and the No. 4-ranked prospect overall. Mookie Cooper is ranked as an athlete, 107th overall, but has been recruited as a receiver and is joined by Gee Scott Jr., Jaxon Smith-Njigba and four-star Cameron Martinez. An impressive haul, to say the least, especially since the Buckeyes landed three ESPN 300 receivers in the 2019 class, including last year's second-ranked wideout in Garrett Wilson, who has already made an impact this season.

LSU
As LSU's offense has progressed on the field, the coaches already have stockpiled receivers for the next few years in this 2020 class. It starts with Rakim Jarrett, the No. 3-ranked receiver in the class who is headed to LSU all the way from Washington, D.C. He's joined by Kayshone Boutte and Jermaine Burton, the Nos. 6 and 9 receivers overall. It's impressive to have three commitments ranked in the top 10 of their respective positions, then add in three-star Koy Moore, and it's easy to see why LSU makes the list.
Tight end

Notre Dame
With Michael Mayer and Kevin Bauman committed, the Irish are the only team with two ESPN 300 tight ends committed. Mayer is the No. 3 tight end in the class, standing at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds out of Kentucky. Bauman is the fifth-ranked tight end and is similar in size at 6-foot-5, 226 pounds. Both should provide a big target in this offense in the future, especially given Notre Dame didn't sign a tight end in the 2019 class.

Stanford
It's probably not surprising to see Stanford on this list, as the Cardinal have produced some excellent tight ends in the past. Stanford has Lukas Unger, a three-star, and Ben Yurosek, the No. 9-ranked tight end in the class, committed.
Others
The numbers in this position group will change, as five-star tight ends Darnell Washington and Arik Gilbert have yet to make their commitments, and neither have ESPN 300 tight end Theo Johnson and four-star Jeremiah Pegues. As it stands now, though, Oklahoma has a four-star committed in Jalin Conyers; Miami and Ohio State also both have a four-star committed in Dominic Mammarelli and Joe Royer, respectively.
Offensive line

Georgia
Georgia offensive line coach Sam Pittman likes to post videos of himself saying, "Go Dawgs" then shouting, "Yessir!" when one of his targets commits to Georgia. Pittman has tweeted a lot of those videos with this class, as he has helped land an incredible five ESPN 300 offensive linemen in 2020. Georgia has five-star tackle Broderick Jones, No. 2-ranked center Sedrick Van Pran, ESPN 300 tackles Tate Ratledge and Chad Lindberg, as well as ESPN 300 guard Joshua Braun. That's three top-20 tackles and two outstanding interior linemen for a well-rounded class with a lot of talent.

Clemson
The Tigers also have had an excellent recruiting class along the offensive line with four ESPN 300 linemen and one four-star just outside the top 300 list. While Georgia has the No. 2-ranked tackle, Clemson has the No. 1 recruit in five-star Mitchell Mayes. The Tigers also have ESPN 300 tackles Walker Parks and Bryn Tucker, as well as ESPN 300 guard Paul Tchio. John Williams is a four-star tackle who rounds out the class for Clemson. A big group of linemen coming in to help keep this offense productive.
Defensive line

Clemson
Defensive line recruiting at Clemson has been outstanding, and the staff is continuing that in this 2020 class. There are five ESPN 300 defensive linemen committed, including two five-stars. Myles Murphy is the top-ranked defensive end in the class and Bryan Bresee is the No. 1 defensive tackle, both at the top of the Clemson commit list. The interior of the line was a big focus for the staff in this cycle, and in addition to Bresee, the coaches also received commitments from Demonte Capehart and Tre Williams, the Nos. 2 and 4 defensive tackles in the class. Defensive end Kevin Swint is in the ESPN 300 as well and ranked as the No. 14 defensive end in the class -- he's a big addition to round out the future defensive line.

Alabama
The Crimson Tide have produced some of the best defensive linemen in recent years, and the recruiting efforts in 2020 look as though they will continue that in the future. Alabama has five ESPN 300 defensive linemen committed, led by five-star defensive end Chris Braswell, who is the No. 4 defensive end. He's joined by ESPN 300 defensive end William Anderson and defensive tackles Jayson Jones, Jah-Marien Latham and Timothy Smith. All five of the commits ranked inside the top 15 of their respective position groups.
Linebackers

Auburn
The Tigers have done well recruiting this cycle, and after an impressive linebacker haul in 2019, the staff is back at it in 2020. With three ESPN 300 linebackers committed, Auburn has one of the best linebacker classes so far, and it is led by Wesley Steiner, the No. 4 outside linebacker in the class out of Georgia. Steiner is joined by Trenton Simpson and Cameron Riley, ranked as the Nos. 11 and 25 outside linebackers, respectively.

Alabama
The Tide have seen a few injuries at linebacker this season, and they are helping themselves in the future by reloading at the position for 2020. Drew Sanders is listed as an athlete, but Alabama recruited him for a linebacker position. The staff was able to flip him from Oklahoma to get him in this class. Sanders is the No. 37 prospect overall and joined by ESPN 300 linebackers Quandarrius Robinson, Demouy Kennedy and Jackson Bratton, all ranked in the top 10 of their positions.
Cornerback

LSU
LSU has been dubbed as DBU, and the past few recruiting classes are going to help continue that distinction. That includes 2020 if the staff can sign all the corner prospects it now has on board. After landing the top-ranked corner in 2019 in Derek Stingley Jr., the staff has the No. 3-ranked corner in 2020 committed with Elias Ricks. Major Burns, the No. 6 cornerback, and Lorando Johnson are also on board to round out this excellent class. Johnson stands at 5-foot-11, but most notable on paper about Ricks and Burns are that both measure in at 6-foot-2. Big, talented corners are on their way to Baton Rouge.

Texas
The Longhorns are also trying to load up on defensive talent, and the staff has been able to do that with corners. ESPN 300 prospect Kitan Crawford is listed as an athlete, but he has been recruited as a defensive back and is a very talented recruit. He is joined in the class by the No. 11 corner, Ethan Pouncey, and four-star Joshua Eaton. Pouncey is listed at 6-foot-1 and Eaton at 6-foot-2, giving Texas some length in the secondary as well.
Safety

Michigan
The Wolverines have had a stout defense for the past few seasons under defensive coordinator Don Brown, and they will add to the secondary with this 2020 class. Michigan was able to land the No. 1-ranked safety in 2019 with Daxton Hill, and now the staff has the Nos. 8 and 12 ranked safeties in 2020 with Jordan Morant and Makari Paige, as well as the No. 16-ranked athlete in R.J. Moten. All three will be able to fill different holes within the Michigan defense, whether it's a traditional safety position or Michigan's hybrid role.

Ohio State
The Buckeyes' secondary has improved quickly under new co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, and the staff wants to continue that progression moving forward. The two ESPN 300 safeties in this class will go a long way to help that, as the staff has the Nos. 4 and 13 ranked safeties committed. Lathan Ransom is a 6-foot-2, 183-pound safety out of Tucson, Arizona, and is joined by Lejond Cavazos, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound recruit from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Cavazos decommitted from Ohio State at one point, but the staff was able to get him back on board, which says a lot about how much the coaches want him on this roster.
