Hundreds of millions of dollars will change hands, with bets on everything from the coin flip to the color of the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach.
We'll chronicle it all in this file updating the biggest bets from around the country.

$550,000 on 49ers +1.5
$500,000 on 49ers first half

• More late San Francisco money comes in at CG Technology books, including $80,000 on the 49ers money line at +115 odds and $100,000 on the 49ers to win at +112 odds.
5:20 p.m.: An hour before kickoff, the best-case scenario for multiple sportsbooks is the 49ers and the under. The betting handle on the Super Bowl is strong, although there is less action on the money line at the SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas than in previous Super Bowls.
Las Vegas sportsbook operator CG Technology said handle really picked up today.
4:40 p.m.: The worst-case scenario for Station Casinos' sportsbooks in Las Vegas is Chiefs and over. "We're definitely rooting for the under," Station sportsbook director Chuck Esposito said.
4:30 p.m.: The largest wager on the total so far just came in at The Mirage in Las Vegas, as one bettor bet $330,000 on over 53.5 points.
3:45 p.m.: More big bets continue to roll in on the Chiefs, including four six-figure wagers on Kansas City. One of those is a $525,000 bet on the Chiefs -1 (-110) at a William Hill book in Nevada.
2:15 p.m.: Every year there seems to be a new Super Bowl prop. Caesars Sportsbook has one this year that could prove costly. Ever heard of an octopus? It's the name for the same player scoring a touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion. The odds for yes are at 10-1, and 99.6% of the money is on that side. "It'll be a high six-figure thing if the octopus actually hits the board," senior oddsmaker at Caesars Alan Berg said on ESPN's Daily Wager.
1:20 p.m.: Bookmakers were sitting pretty five hours before kickoff, with balanced action putting some sportsbooks in no-lose situations. "We are actually good all the way around," Jeff Stoneback, director of race and sports for MGM in Nevada, told ESPN on Sunday. "Best case at this point would be Chiefs and under. Wish for an exact score would be Chiefs 21-20. That would be the perfect score and a great win for us."
12:15 p.m.: Big bets on the under continue to come in, as one bettor puts down $110,000 on the under 54 at a CG Technology sportsbook, per director of risk management at CG Technology Tony DiTommaso. DiTommaso tells ESPN after lowering the total from the six-figure wager, they "instantly took over 53.5 for $16,500."
Noon: "Purple" remains an odds-on favorite to be the color of Gatorade dumped on the winning coach at DraftKings. "Purple" has attracted 35% of the money bet on the Gatorade prop. "Red" (+300), "Yellow/Green" (+500) and "Orange" (+750) are next, each having attracted 15% of the overall handle on the market.
• A bettor at The Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey, placed a $20,000 two-team parlay on the Lakers to win the NBA championship and the Chiefs on the money line. The bet would pay $144,000, according to director of race and sports Tom Gable.
• One bettor just placed another six-figure wager on the Chiefs at a CG Technology sportsbook: $115,000 on Chiefs -1 at -115 odds.
11:30 a.m.: The action on the Super Bowl remains evenly divided, especially at FanDuel, where 50% of the money on moneyline bets is going to each team.
10 a.m.: The SuperBook at The Westgate Las Vegas has similar betting splits as Caesars, with 65% of the bets and 61% of the money on Kansas City -1.5, per Jeff Sherman, vice president of risk at the SuperBook. The book has 64% of the bets and money on over 54.
9 a.m.: As the betting day begins, 56% of bets and 56% of tickets are on the Chiefs -1.5 at Caesars Sportsbook. Caesars has taken some under money throughout the week, and now the total of 54 has 68% of the bets and 69% of money on the over.
Saturday, Feb. 1
9:15 p.m.: More Chiefs money is flowing in Vegas, as one bettor puts $125,000 on the Kansas City money line (-125) and $68,000 on the Kansas City first-half money line at Aria in Las Vegas.
4:30 p.m.: The second-largest wager we've seen so far comes in on Kansas City at the Bellagio, an MGM book in Las Vegas. One bettor wagers $750,000 on the Chiefs -1.5 for the game, and follows the wager up by putting up another $250,000 on the Chiefs first half moneyline. Big money starting to really flow now.
2:30 p.m.: Another large six-figure wager comes in on Kansas City at South Point in Las Vegas, as one bettor wagers $190,000 on the Chiefs -1.5. Sportsbook director Chris Andrews confirms it is the largest bet the sportsbook has taken so far on Super Bowl LIV.
11:35 a.m.: Betting action on the Super Bowl coin flip had reached "well into five figures" at Caesars Sportsbook and was the most heavily bet two-way prop being offered as of Saturday morning, according to director of trading Jeff Davis.
The Borgata sportsbook in Atlantic City reported taking a $3,300 bet on tails Saturday morning, and sportsbook PointsBet took a $2,000 bet on tails earlier in the week.
At Caesars, 53.6% of bets were on heads, but 56.2% of the money was on tails.
10:20 a.m.: Multiple sportsbooks in New Jersey and Nevada reported taking bets from professional bettors on under 54.5 Friday. The early action on the total had been lopsided on the over, driving the total up from the consensus opener of 51.5 to as high as 55. Bookmaker William Hill US reported Friday that 79% of the money wagered on the total was on the over.
8 a.m.: A risk-taker at the William Hill sportsbook at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe placed two $100 bets on Thursday: One on the Chiefs to finish with exactly four points; and the other on the 49ers to finish with exactly four points. Each bet was at 9,999-1 odds and would result in a $999,900 win.
According to ESPN Stats & Information, no team in the Super Bowl era has finished a game with exactly four points.
Friday, Jan. 31
7:30 p.m.: With kickoff less than 72 hours away, the big bets are coming fast and furious. One guest at Aria in Las Vegas (an MGM book) just placed two six-figure bets on the 49ers -- $300,000 on the money line at +105 odds and $220,000 on 49ers +1.5. Another guest at Aria put down $220,000 on the Chiefs money line at -125 odds.
4:45 p.m.: With 14 states now offering legal sports betting on Super Bowl LIV, big bets can come from anywhere. The largest we've seen from Mississippi just came in, as one bettor wagered $435,250 on the Chiefs -1.5 at the Beau Rivage MGM book.
3:00 p.m.: It doesn't serve as the most exciting narrative heading into the weekend, but betting has been split on the Super Bowl. The Chiefs have been attracting anywhere from 60-70% of the money bet on the point spread, while there is more support for the 49ers on the money line. On Friday at Caesars Sportsbook, the two teams were separated by just a few hundred bets.
"Very close," Caesars director of trading Jeff Davis said.
10:00 a.m.: The biggest Super Bowl LIV prop bet we've seen so far has come in. FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands in New Jersey reported taking a $267,600 bet on Kansas City running back Damien Williams to go under 53.5 rushing yards at -118 odds. ESPN confirmed with FanDuel that the wager came from a bettor they are familiar with.
8:00 a.m.: On Thursday evening at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, a bettor placed a $450,000 bet on the over on an alternate total of 42.5 at -450. If the Chiefs-49ers score more than 42.5 points, the bettor would win $100,000.
Thursday, Jan. 30
2:30 p.m.: Two more $100,000 wagers came in on the 49ers money line in Las Vegas, one at Bellagio and the other at Aria -- both MGM books.
• $100,000 on 49ers ML +110 at Bellagio (Wed. night)
• $100,000 on 49ers ML +105 at Aria (Thursday)
Money has also started to show up on the under, as the SouthPoint reported taking a $44,000 bet on under 55 points, while MGM took $44,000 on under 54.5, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Wednesday, Jan. 29
8:30 pm: Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale has re-entered the sports betting world, placing a $1 million bet on San Francisco to win the Super Bowl at +120 odds at the MGM Mirage. It is the largest reported wager on Super Bowl LIV so far, and the first seven-figure bet. The Houston-based furniture store owner has another store promotion that he is hedging against with the wager.
A bettor placed a $91,666.65 bet on the 49ers +1 just before 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas. It's the largest bet on either team the book had taken to this point, and it flip-flopped the SuperBook's position.
SuperBook executive director John Murray said the book needed the Chiefs for a small decision, before taking the big bet on the 49ers. Murray said that the total was a bigger decision than the point spread for the book as of Wednesday.
The early money had been lopsided on the over, including at the SuperBook, which took a $110,000 bet on over 52.5, shortly after putting the Super Bowl odds on the board on championship Sunday, Jan. 19.
The total had grown to as high as 55 at some sportsbooks.
"We would do a little better on the Chiefs now," Murray told ESPN. "But it's still all about the game going under and the prop market."
Veteran Las Vegas bookmaker Chris Andrews said Wednesday that his sportsbook at the South Point casino had slightly more money on the favored Chiefs, but that the action was pretty even. Asked what he anticipated about the betting in the coming days, Andrews replied, "I anticipate something. I just don't know what."
Oddsmakers at sportsbook PointsBet opened "Purple" as the biggest long shot on their prop bet on which color of Gatorade would be dumped on the winning coach. "Since opening, we've received a ton of steam on purple, in part thanks to rumors across Twitter," PointsBet communications director Patrick Eichner said in a release Thursday
Purple has gone from a 10-1 long shot to a -133 odds-on favorite.
Fifty-nine percent of the money is on purple at PointsBet.
Jeff Davis, director of trading for Caesars Sportsbook, said Wednesday morning that professional bettors have stayed away from the point spread and total on the Super Bowl, but have shown interest in some proposition bets.
Davis pointed out these three props as having attracted sharp action:
• Pros bet the fourth quarter to have more points than the second quarter all the way down from +175 to +130.
• They bet "yes" on a two-point conversion being attempted, causing the odds to shorten from +165 to +120.
• They bet "yes" on a successful two-point conversion at +310, all the way down to +220.
Tuesday, Jan. 28
Some big money showed up on the Chiefs on Tuesday. The MGM sportsbook at the Bellagio in Las Vegas took a $550,000 bet on Kansas City -1. It's the largest single bet MGM sportsbooks have taken on the Super Bowl as of Tuesday afternoon.
Caesars Sportsbook also reported taking its first six-figure bet on the Super Bowl on Tuesday. The exact amount was not disclosed, but, according to director of trading Jeff Davis, it was on the Chiefs -1.
A CG Technology sportsbook took the third six-figure bet on the Chiefs on Tuesday afternoon: $120,000 on the Chiefs -1.
One six-figure bet also came in on the 49ers on Tuesday: $100,000 on the 49ers moneyline at +106 at FanDuel Sportsbook in New Jersey.
• Sportsbooks around the nation are reporting more point spread support for the Chiefs but more money-line support for the 49ers. Bettors who have sided with San Francisco are taking the 49ers to win straight up around +105 odds. Chiefs backers, on the other hand, have been willing to lay the 1 point on the spread.
Sportsbook PointsBet said there was slightly more handle on the money line than the point spread, but the book was expecting that to change closer to kickoff. "[I] imagine that the spread handle will take over and outpace the money line, as the recreational bettors love Kansas City," PointsBet communications director Patrick Eichner told ESPN.
As of Tuesday, 82% of point spread money was on the Chiefs at PointsBet, while 57% of the money-line money was on San Francisco.
• Odds on what color of Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach are up (and legal) at some sportsbooks in New Jersey. Red is the betting favorite at +150, followed by Orange at +300. Clear/Water and Yellow/Green were each listed at +450.
As of Tuesday morning, 50% of the early money at DraftKings was on Yellow/Green.
• 49ers pass-rusher Nick Bosa (40-1) has attracted more bets than any other player to win Super Bowl MVP at William Hill sportsbooks. Denver's Von Miller was the last defensive player to win Super Bowl MVP, back in 2016.

The SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas posted 33 pages worth Super Bowl prop bets Thursday night and took over a half a million dollars in wagers in the first 12 hours they were on the betting board.
Almost all the early action on the props was from seasoned sports bettors, who were allowed to place two $2,000 limit bets, before returning to the back of the line.
John Murray, executive director for the SuperBook, said there was a line of eager bettors until they closed at 11 p.m., and as soon as the prop bets hit the book's mobile betting at Friday morning, the action continued to flow.
Murray said they took three limit bets "from three different groups" on the under on 49ers running back Raheem Mostert's receiving yards, pushing the number down from 20.5 to 15.5.
"During the regular season, almost all our prop action is from sharper guys," Murray said. "But in the Super Bowl, we get so much public action on them that we end up needing the same side as the sharp guys. For the most part, if the guys who were betting those last night do well ... we'll do well."
• The Rampart Casino in Las Vegas took a $115,000 bet on the Chiefs moneyline (-115), per assistant race and sportsbook manager Duane Colucci.
Thursday, Jan. 22
• As of early Thursday afternoon at MGM sportsbooks in Nevada, approximately twice as much money had been bet on the Chiefs as had been bet on 49ers. However, Jeff Stoneback, director of race and sports for MGM in Nevada, estimated that 5% of the total money that will be bet on the Super Bowl had come in at this point.
The early action on the Super Bowl total has been lopsided at most sportsbooks, growing from a consensus opener of 51.5 up to 54.5 at many books. At MGM, Stoneback said there was 12 times as much money on the over as there was on the under.
• Sportsbook PointsBet had 306 different Super Bowl betting markets up Thursday. The most popular? The coin flip "by a good margin."
Bettors are divided on the coin toss, with 52% of the bets on heads, although the bigger money is on tails. Nearly 70% of the money that had been bet at PointsBet was on tails.
Wednesday, Jan. 21
• The vast majority of the money on the total continues to come in on the over. At DraftKings Sportsbook, 90% of the bets and 96% of the money so far has been on the over, which was at 54 on Wednesday morning.
