We've reached Week 6 of the 2020 NFL Eliminator Challenge. The rules are simple: Pick a winner each week, and don't use the same team twice. If you win all 17 weeks (or outlast your fellow group members), you're the champ. You can find all the rules here.
We will look at the top Eliminator options each week, using betting lines (Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill), ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) and more. (For more on how FPI is calculated, click here and here.)
Here are our recommendations for Week 6:
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets
You probably didn't expect to be considering the Dolphins, at least this early in the season. And they do have a losing record (2-3). But Miami is coming off a stunning 43-17 win in San Francisco. As for the Jets, they aren't just 0-5 straight up, they're also 0-5 against the spread -- truly awful. The Dolphins are the biggest favorites of the week according to the FPI, and among the biggest favorites according to the bookmakers, in a week when there is currently no team favored by double digits.
Line: Dolphins -8.5
FPI favorite: Dolphins 73.6%
Eliminator Challenge: 30% selected
Baltimore Ravens at Philadelphia Eagles
If you can't bring yourself to trust the Dolphins and still have the Ravens available, they're the second-best choice this week according to the FPI, despite being on the road. Baltimore is 4-1, with its only loss coming against Kansas City, the defending Super Bowl champ. Philadelphia is 1-3-1, which sadly is good enough for second place in the NFC East, but that's nothing to brag about.
Line: Ravens -8
FPI favorite: Ravens 73.4%
Eliminator Challenge: 10% selected
Indianapolis Colts vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Colts have a winning record (3-2), although they're coming off a 32-23 loss in Cleveland. The 1-3-1 Bengals are coming off an even poorer performance, though -- a 27-3 defeat in Baltimore in which they accumulated only 205 total yards. Indianapolis is the third-best choice according to the FPI.
Line: Colts -8
FPI favorite: Colts 67.5%
Eliminator Challenge: 15% selected
Others to consider: Patriots (-9) vs. Broncos
No other Week 6 game currently on the board at Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill has a point spread bigger than 3.5 points.
