Best bets for Cowboys-Giants

The 2019 NFL season rolls on, and we're here with a betting preview for Monday night's game on ESPN between the first-place Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.

Joe Fortenbaugh and Mike Clay offer their best bets for the Week 9 finale between NFC East rivals.

Note: Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook as of Sunday evening.

Dallas Cowboys (-7.5, 48) at New York Giants

Dak Prescott under 280.5 passing yards (-110)

Clay: This one is a bit tough to swallow considering Prescott threw for 405 yards in the Week 1 meeting between these teams. Prescott also cleared 400 yards against Green Bay, but he has been under 279 yards in his other five games, averaging 251.0 passing yards per game this season. We saw a similar trend in 2018, as Prescott reached 385 passing yards in two games but had no additional 300-yard games, averaging 220.9 passing yards in his other 16 games (including the playoffs). The Cowboys have remained committed to the run, calling pass 56% of the time in 2019, which is sixth-lowest in the league. Dallas is favored by 7.5 points, which should allow Ezekiel Elliott to stay busy. Prescott's projection comes in at 267 yards.

Cowboys team total over 27 points (FanDuel)

Fortenbaugh: The Giants enter Week 9 ranked 28th in the NFL in total defense, having allowed 27 or more points seven of eight games this season. The lone exception? That would be none other than the putrid Washington Redskins, who spent the majority of that encounter banking on an unprepared rookie quarterback in Dwayne Haskins. Big D hung 35 points on the Giants back in Week 1 and should find similar success Monday night with Prescott attacking a secondary that is allowing opposing signal-callers to complete an astounding 70.2% of their passes in 2019 (fourth-worst in the NFL).
