Matchup: Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos
Spread: Opened Denver -4; now Denver -6
Total: Opened 45; now 46
PickCenter public consensus pick: 58 percent Denver
Public perception: The public is siding more with defending champion Broncos, who picked up where they left off by beating the Panthers 21-20 in the Thursday night opener. The Colts rallied to nearly beat the Lions, but overall didn't inspire much confidence.
Wiseguys' view: Oddsmakers opened this line short at Denver -4 and early sharp bettors jumped on the Broncos and quickly bet it to 6, and even 6.5 at some books. It's more balanced now.
Dave Tuley's take: I was starting to think I might side with the Colts here when it looked like the line might steam to 7, but it seems to have peaked. C.J. Anderson carried the bulk of the load against the Panthers (while Trevor Siemian played the game-manager role to a T). Anderson should have even more success and I have less confidence that Andrew Luck can rally his team like he did against the Lions and get a back-door cover against the Broncos' defense.
The pick: Lean to Broncos -6
