Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans
Spread: Opened Houston -2; now Houston -2.5 (-120)
Total: Opened 43.5; now 43.5
PickCenter public consensus pick: 53 percent Kansas City
Public perception: The public is mostly split on this matchup of 2015 playoff teams, though it's hard to ignore the Chiefs' 30-0 playoff win in the last meeting in January.
Wiseguys' view: Some books opened this line at Houston -1.5 and the Westgate had Houston -2, but early sharp bettors laid the short priced and we've seen it continue to climb toward a field goal (and has already hit -3 EVEN at a few books as of this writing).
Dave Tuley's take: The Texans looked better in Week 1 than they did in that playoff game, but the main reason I'm not looking at the underdog here is the fact the Chiefs were thoroughly outplayed by the Chargers before rallying in the second half. And Houston's defense poses a much tougher test than the Chargers' did. While I would recommend grabbing the short price on Houston, I like the under better as the defenses are the best units on the field no matter who has the ball (though I am liking the Texans' offense better after seeing how speedy rookie WR Will Fuller takes pressure off DeAndre Hopkins).
The pick: Under 43.5* (lean to Texans -2.5)
Mike Clay:
Projected score: Houston 22, Kansas City 19
The pick: Under
