Matchup: New Orleans Saints at New York Giants
Spread: Opened NYG -5; now NYG -4.5
Total: Opened 52; now 53
PickCenter public consensus pick: 52 percent New Orleans
Public perception: The public is mostly split on this game, though other bet-tracking sites have it siding more with the Saints. When a team gains 507 yards (even in a loss), that tends to get the public's attention.
Wiseguys' view: Sharps are split on this game as well, and so are oddsmakers: This line opened as low as New York -3.5 and as high as -6.
Dave Tuley's take: It is tempting to take Drew Brees & Co. plus the points, but the problem is you'd also have to trust the sieve-like defense. That's why I'm going to be on the Saints to go over just like I did last week in the game against the Raiders (a much easier decision than the coin-flip ATS and money-line bets). The Saints should have more success than the Cowboys had against the Giants' revamped defense while Eli Manning should have a field day as he has more targets this year than just Odell Beckham Jr.
The pick: Over 53* (lean to Giants -4.5)
Mike Clay:
Projected score: New York 28, New Orleans 25
The pick: New Orleans
