The New England Patriots signed offensive lineman Marcus Cannon to a two-year, $9 million contract extension Thursday, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Cannon was playing in the final year of his rookie contract. The fourth-year man out of TCU started the final six games last season at right tackle after starter Sebastian Vollmer went on injured reserve in October.
Cannon has played in all 13 of the Patriots' games this season, and started the first three games of the year at left guard.
Cannon was picked in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft by the Patriots, debuting in Week 11 that season after undergoing chemotherapy in the offseason to treat non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The AFC East-leading Patriots will host the Dolphins on Sunday.
