Coach Sidney Crosby for Game 1?

Sidney Crosby stayed close as the Pittsburgh Penguins won Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night.

The injured star sat with team management and goalie coach Gilles Meloche in the media area, wearing a headset to stay in contact with the coaching staff on the bench.

Earlier in the day, Crosby participated in his eighth on-ice workout with teammates since he was cleared for noncontact practice. He took line shifts with Eric Godard and Mike Comrie, who were healthy scratches for Game 1, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said there was no change in Crosby’s status, according to the paper.
