Five-star cornerback Levonta Taylor was presented with an Under Armour All-America jersey on Thursday afternoon, in a ceremony and pep rally attended by friends, family, coaches and members of the Ocean Lakes High faculty.

The No. 6-ranked prospect in the class of 2016 has seen a long list of players play in the Under Armour Game, then star in college and go on to successful professional careers.

“It means a lot, the recent athletes that played in the game,” said Taylor. “A lot did great in college, went on to the NFL and are doing great in the league.”

On Thursday, the 5-foot-11, 183-pound star from the “757” become the third Under Armour All-America Game selection from Ocean Lakes High, joining NFL receiver Justin Hunter and Virginia freshman linebacker Jahvoni Simmons. Carrying on the tradition for his school and community means a lot for the electric playmaker.

“It means a lot to me to keep that tradition going. Not only do I get to represent my school, but the area I come from. I get to represent my state and the talent that comes out of Virginia.”

The nation's top-ranked cornerback and dynamic return man knew his talents at a young age, while training with Under Armour All-America Game alum and Virginia standout Quin Blanding.

“I will say back when I was in the back yard training with Quin Blanding I knew I could be a great player. I learned technique working with Quin, had the athleticism and I’ve always been a dog!”

Five questions with Levonta Taylor:

What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

I want to compete against the best. Whoever wants to challenge me, I’m going to eat them up. I want to show everybody I’m the best at what I do.

If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

Malik Henry. He plays QB, knows football and coverages, and can dissect defenses. He’s a lot of help for everyone.

What is your most meaningful football memory?

That would be a second-round playoff game my sophomore year. I had two picks, 12 tackles, four tackles for loss and two pass breakups.

Which football player did you watch as a kid?

I’d say Deion Sanders when I was young, and then Tyrann Mathieu as I got older. It was Deion’s swagger, he was very fast and played both sides of the ball.

If you could take on any pro in their sport, who would it be and why?

I would say LeBron James. He’s one of the best athletes in the world, unbelievable size to be that level athlete and is very mature. He’s probably the best athlete in the NBA.
