HYATTSVILLE, Md. -- Terrance Davis was one of three players at DeMatha Catholic presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Thursday afternoon, in a ceremony attended by friends and family.
Minutes before putting on the Under Armour All-America Game jersey, the No. 124-ranked prospect in the class of 2016 spoke about a huge honor that many college and NFL stars had before him.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized as one of the top kids in the country,” said Davis. “Playing in the same game that a lot of alumni played in and went on to be drafted in the NFL is a great honor.”

For this group of players, the theme on Thursday was more about DeMatha Catholic’s team than any one individual award. Davis said he hopes this is just the beginning of a long run of Under Armour All-America Game selections for the nationally known producer of basketball talent.
“Shane, Tino and I have really turned the football program around and are helping get us on the national stage like basketball, so it’s just a start hopefully. We want to have many more Under Armour All-America Game players in the future.”
Davis currently has his mind on a perfect season for DeMatha Catholic, as do his teammates, and the 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman has all five official visits on the docket following the season.
“I have four officials set. Michigan is my first visit for the Ohio State game. After that I go down to Georgia December 11, then Alabama January 9 and UCLA January 15. Ohio State, Florida and Maryland are also there, and Maryland will probably be my last official visit. I’ve got to set that one up,”
The nation’s No. 7-ranked guard says his ultimate decision will come down to a pair of key factors.
“I would say education because I have to be able to do something great with my life after football, so education has to carry a lot of weight. I would say a family atmosphere too, in case I choose to go far away from home.”

Seven questions with Terrance Davis:
What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?
Rashan [Gary]. We went at it at The Opening. Just going against him every day would be great. We only went at it three times at The Opening, so I would like to go more. You always want to improve, and no better way to do it than going against the best player in the country.
If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?
Who is the best receiver in the class? I would go with the best receiver because you have to score points. Now on offense, a quarterback doesn’t always have to throw the ball 80 yards down the field, they can throw screens -- and a great receiver can still score touchdowns.
What is your earliest football memory?
It’s when I was nine. I was like 105-pounds when I was nine -- playing up. I was big, but I was little playing up. It was the first time I won a championship too.
Which football player did you watch as a kid?
At first, I thought I was going to about 6-foot-7 or 6-foot-8, so I thought I would be a tackle. I watched Jake Long and bigger guys at offensive tackle. Since I have been playing guard, I would say Chance Warmack.
If you could take on any pro in their sport, who would it be and why?
I would like to test myself against Floyd Mayweather. I just want to see him lose because he’s too cocky.
What number do you wear, and why?
I wear number 75. I didn’t know this until about two week ago – but my grandmother is buried in lot number 75, so that’s pretty special. She is very special to me.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m an awesome [NBA] 2K player. Like really great. Very great, very great.
