LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Thursday's action at the Area Code Baseball Games was highlighted by a pair of round trippers. It brought the home run total to seven this week at Blair Field, which is normally a tough place to hit one out.

White Sox 7, Rangers 4

The White Sox and the Rangers battled in the first game of Day 5 at Blair.

The White Sox got on the board first and the Rangers tied it up in the second and took the lead by scoring a pair in the third. Sheldon Neuse (Fort Worth, Texas) came through with a RBI single making it 3-1.

The Sox got one back in the fourth and the Rangers added another in the seventh making it 4-2.

The Sox tied it up in the eighth on an RBI single by A.J. Puk (Cedar Rapids, Iowa). Then the big hit of the inning came when Ryan Lidge hit a bases loaded double to make it 7-4 White Sox.

Athletics 4, Yankees 4

The Athletics and the Yankees squared off in the second game of the day. The big blast came from Jacob Gatewood (Clovis, Calif.) when he touched them all in the third, scoring three and giving the A’s a 4-2 lead.

The Yankees tied things up in the sixth when Conner Simonetti (Fairport, N.Y.) went opposite field for a two-run shot knotting the game up at 4.

The Athletics had a chance to win the game when they loaded the bases in the seventh but could not score.

Royals 3, Reds 2

The Royals came into their final game of the week looking for their first win. There were zeros on the board through the first five innings until the Reds struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth.

The Royals’ Jack Meggs (Bellevue, Wash.) came up huge with a two-RBI double giving them the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth.

John Pomeroy (Mossyrock, Wash.) came on the seventh inning to slam the door shut and give the Royals their first win of the week.

Brewers 7, Nationals 3

The Brewers jumped on the Nationals early to gain a 4-0 lead. Then the Nationals got three runs back in the third when a costly Brewers error and a Nationals single got them back into it 4-3.

Then Alex Jackson (Escondido, Calif.) roped a triple off the center field wall and scored on a wild pitch making it 5-3 Brewers. They later added two more runs.
