LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Chicago White Sox slugger Jonathan Denney had a strong day, going 1-for-2 with a walk, home run and three RBIs while throwing out a runner trying to steal second in a 14-11 win over the Washington Nationals Wednesday at the Area Code Baseball Games.
But it's what he did on that home run that will have scouts talking for a long, long time after the 2012 Games are over.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound catcher from Yukon (Okla.) hammered one over the 387-foot sign in left-center field that hit a pine tree halfway up and was measured by one source at 435 feet.
Denney, an Arkansas commit, hit .368 with 12 home runs for Yukon this spring.
