WR returns to Minnesota

Minnesota lost its top receiver from last year when A.J. Barker decided to leave the program. Wide receiver has been a major concern for the Gophers since his departure. The team's rotation will receive a major shot in the arm with the return of a previously dismissed student-athlete.

Andre McDonald has been accepted back into the Gophers' program according to Nate Sandell of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities.

"He's got another opportunity ... Now it's up to him," Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill told Sandell.

McDonald was one of a pair of four-star recruits in the 2012 class. He will rejoin Jamel Harbison who returned from an ACL injury suffered last season and impressed during Minnesota's spring contest.

"(Derrick Engel, Isaac Fruechte and Devin Crawford-Tufts) are the Gophers' three projected starters for this fall, but Coach Jerry Kill makes no secret that the team is looking for more playmakers," Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune wrote after the spring game. "Harbison and KJ Maye (two catches, 36 yards in the spring game) are both candidates, as are incoming recruits Drew Wolitarsky and Eric Carter."
