Latest regarding Rushel Shell's transfer

A transfer decision could come from former Pitt running back Rushel Shell by July 22nd. Shell will take his first and possibly only visit on that day since deciding UCLA wasn't for him.

"Can't wait to take this official visit down WVU the 22nd," Shell tweeted.

Ohio State and Kentucky were originally named as part of Shell's top three options, but Ohio State decided not to pursue the runningback. Kentucky could be in the same boat.

"Kentucky will not pursue former Pitt running back Rushel Shell. (Josh) Clemons' injury doesn't change that," Justin Rowland of CatsIllustrated tweeted.

Shell insists Kentucky is still in the picture.

"Shell said he has no other visits planned for next week but does plan on visiting Kentucky at some point before making a decision prior to preseason camp," Jenn Menendez of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

West Virginia may be the only and best option for Shell once the dust settles.

"Just taking a visit to see if it’s a good fit for myself," Shell told Menendez. "I just know they were a good team last year. And some of the guys (on the team) there, I played against in high school."

Shell would sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules and then have an opportunity to replace another transfer, Charles Sims, in next year's lineup.
