Ranking Big 12's top true freshmen of 2016

With the regular season done, we've already put out our All-Big 12 underclassman team.

Now it's time to rank the Big 12's top true freshmen of the 2016 season:

1. Justice Hill, RB, Oklahoma State: The Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, Hill finished fifth in the league in rushing, third in conference play. With 1,042 yards, he broke Thurman Thomas' true freshman rushing record at Oklahoma State.

2. Shane Buechele, QB, Texas: Though he fizzled a bit down the stretch, Buechele still had a strong first season in Austin, throwing for 2,958 yards and 21 touchdowns.

3. Malcolm Roach, LB, Texas: Roach's eight tackles for loss are tied for the eighth-most all time among freshmen at Texas.

4. Mike Lee, S, Kansas: Lee emerged as a stalwart in the Kansas secondary, tying for the team lead with 70 solo tackles. Lee also forced two fumbles.

5. Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech: One of the bright spots of the Texas Tech defense, Brooks led the Red Raiders with 86 tackles while giving them a promising piece to build their defense around.

6. Deshaunte Jones, WR, Iowa State: Jones stepped into the role of Iowa State's complementary receiving option alongside All-Big 12 performer Allen Lazard. Jones finished with 37 receptions for 536 yards and six touchdowns.

7. Jordan Parker, CB, Oklahoma: After sitting the first month of the season, Parker helped stabilize a defensive backfield that was in disarray early in the season.

8. Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas: Duvernay became Texas' downfield threat, averaging a team-best 20.6 yards per reception. He finished with 412 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

9. David Montgomery, RB, Iowa State: Montgomery eventually overtook 2015 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year Mike Warren as the Cyclones' primary ball-carrier to finished with 563 yards while averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

10. Da'Leon Ward, RB, Texas Tech: Ward came on strong the second half of the season, rushing for 98, 93, 97 and 82 yards in four of Tech's final five games.
