The AFL tribunal is certain to come down hard on Richmond veteran Tom Lynch for striking Adelaide opponent Jordan Butts.
Lynch has been referred directly to the tribunal for the second-quarter incident on Sunday at the MCG and faces a suspension of several weeks. The hearing most likely will be held on Tuesday night.
He was also fined for a separate striking charge in the same term, again involving Butts, and for a first-quarter wrestling incident.
The blow that earned Lynch a direct referral was graded as intentional conduct, severe impact and high contact.
Lynch, a dual Tigers premiership player, threw his right hand at his opponent, making contact with Butts' head.
Luckily for Lynch and Butts, the Richmond spearhead failed to connect completely. He was reported immediately after hitting the Crows defender, who played out the game.
The 32-year-old Lynch had a shocker in the first half of Richmond's 68-point loss to the Crows, giving away five free kicks as he lost his temper.
Butts was also fined for wrestling in the first term.
