KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw State has hired former Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh women's basketball coach Agnus Berenato.
The Atlantic Sun Conference school in suburban Atlanta announced the move Wednesday.
The 59-year-old Berenato takes over a program that that has had only one winning season since 2009. She replaces Nitra Perry, whose contract was not renewed after the Owls went 11-19 this past season.
Berenato has a career record of 444-413 in 29 seasons, including 15 at Georgia Tech and 10 at Pittsburgh. Her teams have earned five NCAA tournament berths, reaching the Sweet 16 in 2008 and `09 while she was at Pitt.
Since leaving the Panthers in 2013, Berenato has been doing television commentary and public speaking engagements. Now, she's "fired up to get back on the court."
