Two-time WNBA champion Sydney Colson is signing a one-year deal with the Indiana Fever as a free agent, her agent, LIFT Sports' Gina Paradiso, told ESPN on Tuesday.
Colson spent the past three seasons with the Las Vegas Aces, where she was part of their 2022 and 2023 title-winning squads.
The 5-foot-8 point guard brings additional championship pedigree to the Fever, who also signed fellow WNBA champions Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner in free agency. Colson is expected to back up 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark at point guard.
Colson was a second-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2011, when she was fresh off winning a national championship with the Aggies. She started her career with the New York Liberty before stints with San Antonio, Minnesota, Chicago and Las Vegas.
Although she averaged fewer than 10 minutes per game under Aces coach Becky Hammon, coaches and teammates consistently pointed to her energy and professionalism on the court and leadership in the locker room as contributions to the team's success.
Colson memorably finished with a plus/minus of +17 in the injury-hampered Aces' title-clinching Game 4 of the 2023 WNBA Finals, coming off the bench and changing the game with her defense.
Off the court, Colson has become a fan favorite, and she and former Aces teammate Theresa Plaisance recently starred in the comedy series "The Syd & TP Show."
Colson's departure is the latest change in a busy offseason for the Aces.
Two of Hammon's assistants, Natalie Nakase and Tyler Marsh, earned head coaching jobs with the Golden State Valkyries and Chicago Sky, respectively.
A swap of All-Star guards resulted in Kelsey Plum leaving for the Los Angeles Sparks and Jewell Loyd joining from the Seattle Storm. Alysha Clark and Tiffany Hayes are also sought-after free agents who have yet to decide on their destinations for 2025, and Las Vegas might be in the market for another frontcourt player alongside three-time MVP A'ja Wilson.
