News: 3 days agoHead coach Sydney Johnson said Thursday that Amoore (knee) has been ruled out for the 2025 season, Tyler Byrum of Monumental Sports Network reports.
Spin: Amoore sustained a right ACL injury during Tuesday's practice session, and she'll be forced to miss her entire rookie season as a result. Sonia Citron and Sug Sutton will likely see increased roles in Amoore's absence this year, while it's not yet clear whether Amoore will be ready for the start of the regular season in 2026. The 24-year-old Amoore had a productive collegiate career, as she averaged 15.7 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 34.8 minutes per game over five seasons between Virginia Tech and Kentucky.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Amoore is an undersized rookie at 5-foot-6, but she had plenty of success in college between Virginia Tech and Kentucky. Over her final three collegiate seasons -- two of which were with the Hokies and one of which was with the Wildcats -- she averaged 18.2 points, 6.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 36.1 minutes per game. The Australian is known as a hardworking player and should have an opportunity to compete for a role with the Mystics early in her career, but she suffered an ACL injury in April that will force her to miss the 2025 campaign. Amoore should have chances to develop in the future, but she faces a lengthy recovery process during her rookie season.
