Euro 2024: Scotland's Robertson 'fine' after injury fears

Scotland assistant John Carver has insisted that Andy Robertson "will be fine" after he went down in training on Monday morning.

Injury fears were there for amongst Scotland's coaching staff as Robertson was taken away from training in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

After Scotland's unlucky string of injuries that has seen Nathan Patterson, Ben Doak, Aaron Hickey, Jacob Brown and Lewis Ferguson all unable to travel to Germany, the potential loss of their captain would have caused significant worry as Scotland's European Championship opener against the host nation fast approaches.

Carver said: "It was a precaution really. The ball just caught his ankle but he will train tomorrow, he will be fine. Obviously at this stage we are going to be extra cautious. But he is ok, he is fine, and we look forward to him joining back in tomorrow."

Striker Lawrence Shankland was also notably absent from this morning's training session after picking up a "niggle" in Scotland's 2-2 draw with Finland last week.

"Obviously he had quite a lot of game time in the two friendlies he played so we are just protecting him," Carver said of Shankland. "Everybody has their own programme when they are coming back but he is fine, he is good."
