TOP STORY: Newcastle lead five-club chase for Alli
Five clubs are monitoring a potential move for Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Dele Alli, reports the Daily Mail.
Alli has struggled to work his way into the Tottenham side since the appointment of Antonio Conte, despite the potential opportunity of a fresh start under the Italian manager. Instead, the report claims he has fallen out with Conte, paving the way for an exit from the club in the remaining few days of the January transfer window.
The report states that Newcastle United are the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old England international, while Borussia Dortmund, Brighton, Everton and Burnley are all eyeing a potential deal.
The Magpies had also made an approach for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard to play in the same position, but, according to The Athletic, that move is on the verge of collapse. That could be where Alli comes in, fulfilling the role of a creative midfielder under Eddie Howe, as he looks to steer the club away from the relegation battle.
It remains to be seen exactly where Alli's future lies, though it seems that he will leave Tottenham in the next week.

Arsenal retain interest in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, says The Athletic.
The Gunners have been light in midfield at times this season, with a number of options assessed for long-term central reinforcements. Among them is 24-year-old Neves, who has impressed with Wolves again and could be one that Mikel Arteta looks to bring in sooner than later.
21.53 GMT: Juventus are eyeing a potential move for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, says Calciomercato.
The Bianconeri are said to be willing to only let Rodrigo Bentancur leave for Aston Villa if they can find a suitable replacement. Nandez, 26, is reported to be that option, with the player scheduling a meeting with his agent to discuss his future.
21.29 GMT: Barcelona are linked with a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico, but they have a potential backup option on their radar.
According to Mundo Deportivo, if they can't land Tagliafico as a free agent, they will turn their attention to Alex Grimaldo. The Benfica full-back was actually a former La Masia graduate and has previously said he would be open to a return.
21.02GMT: American forward Sebastian Soto was loaned from Norwich City to Scotland's Livingston for the rest of the season on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old was recalled early from what was to have been a season-long loan to Portugal's Porto.
A native of Carlsbad, California, Soto scored one goal in eight appearances with Porto B in the Portuguese second tier.
Soto transferred to Norwich from Hannover in July 2020 and spent the first half of last season on loan to Telstar in the Dutch second tier, scoring seven goals in 12 league matches. He made three appearances in the second half of the season for Norwich's under-23 team.
Soto scored twice in his U.S. national team debut, an exhibition against Panama in November 2020.
20.40 GMT: 19:00: Valencia have agreed a loan deal with Tottenham for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard.
The playmaker is said to be free to leave the club this month after failing to win over new coach Antonio Conte. Though the LaLiga club is said to have agreed the loan move, it is still down to Ndombele, who prefers a move to PSG that have been linked recently.
20.06 GMT: Brentford have made an improved offer for Nottingham Forest starlet Brennan Johnson, reports the Daily Mail.
The Championship club are said to have set a valuation of £18m on the 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who's deal at the City Ground expires in 2023. It's reported that the Bees' new offer is close to that mark, with Johnson impressing so far this season.
19.34 GMT: United States defender DeAndre Yedlin has terminated his contract with Turkish club Galatasaray after one year.
The team said Wednesday the decision was by mutual consent, with reports in England and the U.S. suggesting he could be headed to Hull City or MLS' Inter Miami among other clubs.
Yedlin was due to report to the U.S. national team in Columbus, Ohio, ahead of its World Cup qualifier against El Salvador (Thursday, 7 p.m. ET; stream LIVE on ESPN2, ESPN+). He had not arrived by Wednesday's training session.
The 28-year-old from Seattle, a member of the U.S. roster at the 2014 World Cup, joined Galatasaray for the second half of the 2020-21 season. He played for Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders in 2013 and 2014, joined Tottenham for the second half of the 2014-15 season and appeared in one match, against Aston Villa.
He was loaned to Sunderland for 2015-16, then spent 4-plus seasons with Newcastle.
19.05 GMT: Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore has emerged as a January target for Barcelona, but any deal is linked to Ousmane Dembele's situation at the club, sources have confirmed to ESPN.
Dembele, 24, is in the final six months of his contract with Barca and has still not signed an extension, with the club last week telling the France international to find a new club before the end of the month as the relationship soured.
However, as first revealed by Diario Sport, sources have told ESPN that Dembele's agent, Moussa Sissoko, met with Barca coach Xavi Hernandez and sporting advisor Jordi Cruyff on Wednesday.
In the meeting, Sissoko insisted that the player's intention, if possible, is still to renew at Camp Nou, where there is a five-year contract offer on the table. Barca hope for a decision either way before the end of the month.
18:43 GMT: The story surrounding defensive midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and Newcastle has taken yet another twist.
Following Lyon's statement earlier today that they had not received an offer from Newcastle for the 24-year-old, L'Equipe is reporting that he has told his agents that he wants a move to the Magpies. The report also adds that the move would quadruple the 24-year-old's current salary if the Brazilian makes a switch to the Premier League from Ligue 1.
18.01 GMT: Wolves have triggered a clause in the loan of striker Hwang Hee Chan that will see him join the club on a permanent basis.
The deal will go through at the end of the 26-year-old's loan at Molineux in July 2022, with his contract at RB Leipzig signed until 2026.
17.24 GMT: Newcastle have had an offer for Brighton defender Dan Burn rejected by the club, reports The Athletic.
The 29-year-old has impressed at the back for the Seagulls this season and was a boyhood Newcastle fan. With the Magpies in search of a centre-back, they made an offer for Burn after seeing a move for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos turned down earlier in the month.
16.38 GMT: Arsenal are still keen to boost their midfield ranks and are eyeing a late move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Luiz, 23, only has 18 months left on his contract and the Gunners are hoping to get him on the cheap.
After failing to sign Jorginho from Chelsea when the Italy international was surplus to requirements under Frank Lampard, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta still wants a holding midfielder and sources told ESPN in December that Luiz was on his radar.
16.12 GMT: Talks are continuing between Tottenham and PSG over a possible loan move for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, sources have told ESPN's Julien Laurens.
Ndombele, 25, has a strong relationship with PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, his former manager at Spurs, and also has friends in Paris like Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe.
The France international believes he has no future under Antonio Conte at Spurs and is keen to move in January, with PSG ready to cover his £200,000-a-week wages for a loan if they can move on one of Leandro Paredes, Ander Herrera or Danilo Pereira.
Valencia are also keen to loan Ndombele, but the midfielder is waiting to hear the result of talks with PSG first.
15.45 GMT: James Olley looks at how Thomas Tuchel embraced Chelsea's chaotic culture for success in his first year in charge
What a ride it has been. Tuchel delivered a Champions League trophy for only the second time in the club's history, broke their transfer record to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan and was named FIFA's Men's Coach of the Year at The Best awards earlier this month.
Tuchel is Chelsea's 11th permanent manager since owner Roman Abramovich bought the club in July 2003. This turnover is symptomatic of a ruthless culture in which success is paramount and player power has eroded the authority of coaches with reputations great and small.
15.07 GMT: Liverpool have contacted Juventus striker Paulo Dybala over a possible transfer, says Tuttomercatoweb.
Dybala, 28, is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree terms over a new deal. The Argentina international is set to have some competition for his place once Juve complete the €75m signing of Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in the coming days.
Inter Milan are also keen on Dybala, though Liverpool may be a more attractive proposition.
14.43 GMT: Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter Milan have agreed a deal with Atalanta to sign left-back Robin Gosens.
Gosens, 27, will move on loan but there is an obligation for Inter to make the deal permanent for €25m, add-ons included, in the summer.
The Germany international had been linked with Newcastle but will now stay in Serie A.
14.35 GMT: Wolves have exercised their option to sign Hwang Hee-chan on a permanent deal for around £12m on July 1 following the conclusion of his loan from RB Leipzig.
Hwang, 26, has impressed on loan with four goals in 11 Premier League starts and is set to sign a four-year deal to 2026.
The South Korea winger agreed personal terms on the transfer before his arrival at the club last summer.
14.32 GMT: It's hard to imagine Thomas Muller playing for any other club than Bayern Munich.
But the 32-year-old forward has a contract until 2023 and Bayern could opt to move him on in the coming months, with Bild reporting that Everton and Newcastle both want to sign him.
14.04 GMT: Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema is being linked with Barcelona and PSG, says The Guardian.
Miedema, 25, has a contract which expires in the summer and she wants to win the Champions League.
"In the coming weeks I have to get a certain feeling for the right club," she recently told the Dutch newspaper AD. "[But] the door to Arsenal is definitely not closed yet. I want to win the Champions League. I want to get the most out of it [her career]. That means I may have to take the next step. I'm 25 and that's still quite young, but I've been around for a while."
14.01 GMT: Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes isn't joining Newcastle United just yet... the French club have released a statement which reads: "Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false news spread by a number of outlets reporting an agreement between Newcastle and OL for the transfer of Brazilian international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes."

13.52 GMT: Sporting CP have lowered their demands for midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to Record.
Palhinha, 26, was rated at around €40m and has been linked with Manchester United, Wolves and Tottenham.
But after no club came in for him, the Portuguese club are ready to accept closer to €30m now.
13.42 GMT: Norwich City forward Sebastian Soto has ended his loan at FC Porto II to join Scottish Premiership side Livingston.
The United States international scored once in eight appearances in the Portuguese second tier but only started two games.
Soto, 21, signed for Norwich from German side Hannover in the summer of 2020 and scored seven goals in 12 games on loan at Dutch side Telstar before being recalled in January 2021.
13.30 GMT: Are Barcelona using new €55m signing Ferran Torres in the wrong position?
13.11 GMT: Real Madrid are "in pole position" to sign 15-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Endrick, according to Marca.
The newspaper points to Madrid's strong relationship with the Palmeiras forward's agents TFM -- who also represent Vinicius Junior -- as being key to their chances of landing the player.
Endrick has also been scouted by Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain after starring for Palmeiras in U-17 and U-20 competitions in Sao Paulo.
Marca reports that Endrick has a €17m release clause in his current contract, but wouldn't be able to play in Europe until he turns 18 under FIFA rules.
13.05 GMT: Tottenham winger Jack Clarke has joined League One side Sunderland on loan for the rest of the season.
12.51 GMT: Club America are close to securing the signing of Juan Otero from Santos Laguna, according to ESPN Mexico.
The 26-year-old forward is expected to arrive in the City of Mexico on Tuesday ahead of completing a medical and signing his new deal with Santiago Solari's club.
Meanwhile, reports from Spain are claiming that America are also interested in Cadiz winger Alvaro Jimenez.
12.44 GMT: River Plate are set to beat Independiente to the signing of Argentinos Juniors left-back Elias Gomez, according to ESPN Argentina.
It had been reported that the defender was set to join Independiente as they already had an agreement with Argentinos Juniors. However, Gomez has decided to move to River instead.
12.29 GMT: Tottenham are expected to make an improved offer for FC Porto winger Luis Diaz after having an opening bid of €45m plus add-ons rejected, sources have told ESPN's James Olley.
Porto have a strong negotiating position based on the presence of an €80m release clause in the 25-year-old's contract, but there is some confidence at Spurs that a deal can be done below that figure.
Tottenham are planning to increase their bid but the clubs remain some way apart in their valuations as negotiations continue.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte has stressed the urgency for reinforcements this month rather than waiting until the summer and has identified Diaz, a Colombia international with 16 goals from 26 games across all competitions this season, as a key part of his rebuild.
12.03 GMT: Lyon have accepted a €40m bid for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, says The Athletic.
Guimaraes, 24, is set to undergo a medical in Ecuador while on international duty with Brazil.
11.53 GMT: Atletico Madrid are planning to replace Luis Suarez with Elche's Argentinian forward Lucas Boye next summer, AS reports.
Boye has scored seven goals for Elche in LaLiga this season -- including in their 2-2 draw with Madrid at the Bernabeu last weekend -- and is on course for career-best figures this campaign.
The 25-year-old has a €25m release clause and is also attracting interest from Barcelona.
Elche will be unwilling to negotiate a lower fee, AS says, although the figure would drop by €10m if the 15th-placed side are relegated this season.
11.22 GMT: Atletico Madrid midfielder Hector Herrera will stay at the club until the end of the season despite interest from Roma and Valencia, Marca reports.
Herrera, 31, is out of contract next summer and his limited minutes in the first half of this campaign led his representatives to propose a move this month.
However the Mexico international's involvement in Atletico's last two games, against Valencia and Real Sociedad, has led them to reconsider, as did the club's insistence on a €5m fee with under six months left on his contract.
11.10 GMT: Jesse Lingard's proposed move from Manchester United to Newcastle is in danger of collapse, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.
Lingard's representatives were expecting an answer by 12 p.m. GMT [7 a.m. ET) on Tuesday about whether he would be allowed to join Eddie Howe's side until the end of the season, but they remain in the dark about United's plans for his future.
Sources have told ESPN that United are reluctant to sanction a loan move because Lingard only has six months left on his contract.
The club could reconsider their stance if Newcastle offer to cover Lingard's wages, pay a loan fee up front and agree to pay another substantial sum if Newcastle avoid relegation.
There is a frustration on Lingard's part that Anthony Martial, who is under contract until at least 2024, has been allowed to join Sevilla on loan without the Spanish side having to pay a loan fee.
Sources said that Newcastle have not given up hope of landing Lingard before Monday's transfer deadline but would be prepared to walk away and focus on signing Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur.
10.41 GMT: Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Chelsea are interested in Juventus defender Alex Sandro.
Sandro, 31, once almost moved to Stamford Bridge for €40m but the Brazilian won't fetch near that amount this time as the Blues look to strengthen their depth at left-back after an injury to Ben Chilwell.
10.06 GMT: Bayer Leverkusen have an agreement to sign Iran striker Sardar Azmoun from Zenit St. Petersburg in the summer, says Sport1, but the club want to move that to this month.
Azmoun, 27, has 10 goals in 27 games for Zenit this season but his contract expires in the summer and he won't sign a new one.
Leverkusen are reportedly willing to offer around €3m to land him in January, as opposed to a free transfer in six months' time.
09.40 GMT: PSG made the right move when they signed Achraf Hakimi for €60m from Inter Milan over the summer.
09.11 GMT: Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona and Ajax are still negotiating over a deal for left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.
Tagliafico, 29, has expressed his desire to move to Camp Nou but Ajax have yet to agree to let the Argentina international leave.
Ajax reportedly want around €7m up front, while Barcelona are keen to do a loan deal with the exchange of young defender Alejandro Balde.
08.44 GMT: Ajax right-back Noussair Mazraoui says he is likely to leave the club in the coming months.
Mazraoui, 24, has a contract which expires in the summer and the Morocco international has been linked with Arsenal, Leeds, Barcelona and Roma.
"I think the chances of me remaining at Ajax are very small, maybe 5%," he told ESPN NL. "I am open for something new, I have played here for 16 years and I think it's a good moment to leave."
08.37 GMT: ICYMI - Manchester City are close to sealing a deal for River Plate forward Julian Alvarez, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.
City believe they have seen off competition from AC Milan for the 21-year-old Argentinian with the final details to be ironed out before an agreement is reached. Sources have told ESPN the overall cost of the transfer could be less than £20m.
It is likely that Alvarez, who has already been capped five times by Argentina, won't move to the Etihad Stadium until next summer at the earliest but sources have told ESPN he would be considered a first-team signing.
Until he is ready to move to England, City will consider loaning him back to River Plate or arranging another loan elsewhere.
08.25 GMT: FC Basel striker Arthur Cabral is the No. 1 candidate to replace Dusan Vlahovic at Fiorentina and, according to ESPN Brasil, the Italian club's €14m offer is acceptable to them.
Vlahovic, 21, is expected to join Juventus before the transfer window closes for a reported €75m. The Serbia striker, who has been in sensational form this season, is keen to join the Turin giants and has turned down interest from Arsenal.
Fiorentina have offered Basel €14m plus €2m in add-ons to sign Arthur, who has been a reported target of Barcelona and Burnley, and the Brazilian is expected to negotiate personal terms in the coming days.
Arthur, 23, has scored 27 goals in 31 games this season and earned his first call up to Brazil's senior squad in October. He joined Basel from Palmeiras in a €7m transfer in 2019.
08.00 GMT: Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has joined Sevilla on loan.
The France international will spend the rest of the season with the Spanish side, who sit second in the LaLiga table behind leaders Real Madrid.
The deal is a loan with no option to make the move permanent and no fee, with Sevilla covering Martial's salary after he agreed to a wage cut.
Martial asked to leave Old Trafford in December after struggling for opportunities this season.

- Barcelona have made a contract offer to sign Franck Kessie on a free transfer, according to Nicolo Schira. The AC Milan midfielder is set to become a free agent in the summer, with his deal with the Rossoneri expiring. Schira claims that the Blaugrana have offered him a five-year contract, which would earn him €8m per year.
- Ronald Araujo has rejected an opening contract extension offer from Barcelona, alerting two Premier League clubs to a move. According to Marca, the Uruguay centre-back has turned down the offer, with Barca looking to extend his existing deal beyond its 2023 expiration. As a result, both Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be monitoring the situation.
- Bayern Munich are in talks to sign Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter, says Nicolo Schira. The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer and he has already stated he won't sign an extension as he looks to move on. Bayern are reported to have had talks to sign him, offering a four-year deal.
