With the Copa America just around the corner, and the Olympics not too far behind, let's take a look at how some of Mexico's best have looked in recent weeks:

Giovani Dos Santos, FW, LA Galaxy (United States)
Why he's here: During last Saturday's 5-2 win against Real Salt Lake, Dos Santos scored the Galaxy's fourth goal of the game through a beautiful chipped shot from distance. Along with his previous two in the 4-1 win against the Houston Dynamo on April 15, the striker now has three goals in his past two matches.
What this means: Fans and critics are likely taking note of the recent form that the 26-year-old is in. Although Dos Santos can at times be fairly quiet for long stretches, it's difficult to ignore his moments of brilliance that can become game changers for club and country. If the former Barcelona player continues to rack up highlight-worthy moments, there should be no reason why he shouldn't at least be an option on the bench for Mexico in the Copa America.
Raul Jimenez, FW, Benfica (Portugal)
Why he's here: April has been very kind to Jimenez. The 24-year-old has emerged as a hero for Benfica with his two winning goals for the club this month. After scoring the second in the 2-1 win against Academica Coimbra on April 9, the striker once again helped collect three points with the lone goal in the 1-0 victory against Rio Ave last Sunday.
What this means: Jimenez appears to be ready to have an impact in the Olympics this summer. On Monday, the striker revealed that he was approved by the Mexican Football Federation and Benfica to take part in the competition in Brazil. With numerous young strikers like Erick Torres and Marco Bueno struggling for minutes, the Benfica star is certainly a guaranteed starter if he maintains this momentum.
Javier Hernandez, FW, Bayer Leverkusen (Germany)
Why he's here: Jimenez wasn't the only player that collected a winning goal during the weekend. Hernandez provided the third goal for Bayer Leverkusen during last Saturday's dramatic 3-2 win against Schalke. The goal was the striker's third in his past four games and his 26th in all competitions.
What this means: Enjoying a terrific first season in Germany, Hernandez should have no trouble transitioning this form over to the national team during the Copa America this summer. The 27-year-old recently committed to the tournament and has a good chance to become Mexico's all-time leading goal scorer during the competition. Hernandez is just three goals behind Jared Borgetti's 46 goals scored for El Tri.
Cooling down
Marco Fabian, MF, Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany)
Why he's here: Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Mainz 2-1 without the help of Fabian. The 26-year-old was left off the game day roster by new coach Niko Kovac and has yet to start a game since March 12. In Frankfurt's past four matches, the midfielder has only played a total of 15 minutes.
What this means: With relegation now a very strong possibility for Frankfurt, there are questions over the short-term future of Fabian's career. The midfielder would be unlikely to stay with the team if they go down, and even if they manage to stay afloat in the Bundesliga, Fabian may still want to leave considering his paltry playing time.
Yasser Corona, DF, Queretaro (Mexico)
Why he's here: Corona was once again an unused substitute for Queretaro during last Saturday's 3-2 loss to Monterrey, as the defender was left on the bench for the ninth time this season. In the past five league matches, Corona has only appeared twice as a late substitute.
What this means: This doesn't bode well for the defender's chances with the national team. The 28-year-old appeared out of sync during Mexico's 2-0 friendly victory against Senegal in February and has yet to solidify a starting role with Queretaro. Despite the fact that El Tri has limited back-up options to Hector Moreno, Corona may not be donning the jersey this summer.
Raul Lopez, DF, Chivas (Mexico)
Why he's here: Lopez has recently lost his starting spot in Chivas' roster to backup Jesus Sanchez. The winger/right-back hasn't started in a game since last month and received no minutes during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Pachuca.
What this means: Luckily for Lopez, Sanchez received a red card during the recent draw and will be suspended for the next match against Dorados. The 23-year-old will surely be given an opportunity to once again shine for Chivas with his dangerous crosses and free kicks.
