Saurabh Chaudhary-Manu Bhaker win 10m air pistol mixed team gold

India's Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event on the final day of the shooting World Cup in New Delhi on Wednesday. They shot a combined score of 483.4 in the five-team final to clinch the top spot. This was Chaudhary's second medal at a senior-level World Cup, and his first in the mixed team event.

Earlier in the tournament, he had won gold in the men's 10m air pistol event with a world record score of 245.0, sealing a Tokyo 2020 berth for India in the event. Bhaker, on the other hand, had finished fifth in the women's 25m pistol event last Sunday.

China's Jiang Ranxin and Bowen Zhang won silver with a score of 477.7, while South Korea's Kim Bomi and Han Seungwoo won bronze with a total of 418.8 after losing a shoot-off to the Chinese combination.

Chaudhary-Bhaker had qualified for the final in first place after equaling the qualifications World Record score of 778 in the qualification round. They were followed by China's Jiang Ranxin and Bowen Zhang (775) and South Korea's Kim Bomi and Han Seungwoo (775).

Compatriots Heena Sidhu and Abhishek Verma failed to make it to the final after finishing ninth with a score of 770 in the qualification round. The mixed team event was tested for the first time in 2017 and will be a part of the next Olympics in Tokyo in 2020. However, no quotas were up for grabs at the New Delhi World Cup.
