2008 Outlook: Hunters expecting a repeat of last year's record-breaking numbers in New Hampshire will likely be in for a surprise.

Matt Ross, a regional director for the Quality Deer Management Association, reported that due to last year's severe winter, deer numbers aren't as high as they have been.

"The state intended to increase deer harvest tags initially, but drew back after the harsh winter, so the forecast should be similar to what we saw two years ago," said Ross.

So while the deer harvest will understandably decline from the high numbers of a year ago, hunters will still find the general population strong this fall.
