Men's super heavyweight quarterfinal- Satish Kumar vs Bakhodir Jalolov (Uzbekistan) [winner is assured a medal] Satish Kumar, possibly battling a cut above the eye, is set to face the Uzbek world champion. The winner of this match enters the semifinal, and is assured a medal (In boxing, there is no bronze medal playoff)
5. 00 PM -- BADMINTON [Medal event]
Women's singles Bronze Medal match: -- PV Sindhu vs He Bingjiao (China)
Sindhu was eased out of her semifinal by a dominant performance from the world no.1 Tai Tzu Ying. She lost 18-21, 12-21. Meanwhile, He Bingjiao lost to younger compatriot Chen Yufei in a 79-minute epic, 21-16, 13-21, 21-12.
5.30 PM - HOCKEY
Men's Quarterfinal: 5.30 PM -- India vs Great Britain India recovered from a 7-1 loss to Australia to win three games on the trot to seal their place in the quarterfinals. Their last match was an end-to-end entertainer, which they won 5-3 against Japan. Great Britain, meanwhile, recovered from a hammering of their own (5-1 vs Germany), to draw Netherlands (2-2) and Belgium (also 2-2) to make it through to the quarters from a tough group. Swimming -- Five finals starting at 7 AM. It kicks off with Caeleb Dressel and the men's 50m freestyle final followed in quick succession by the women's 50 free final, men's 1500m free final, women's 4x100m medley final, and men's 4x100m medley final
Athletics - Men's 100m final at 6.30PM
Tennis: Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic take on Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, the women's singles gold winner, and Viktorija Golubic in the women's doubles gold medal match at 11:30AM. This will be followed by Karen Khachanov of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) against Germany's Alexander Zverev in the men's singles gold medal match.
Lastly, tennis at this edition of the Games will come to an end with two ROC teams facing off in the mixed doubles gold medal match, Elina Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Andrey Rublev.
