The Miami Dolphins are wasting no time exploring replacement options after backup receiver Armon Binns suffered a season-ending knee injury, according to reports, on Sunday.
Free-agent receiver Laurent Robinson is scheduled to work out with Miami on Tuesday, a source confirmed to ESPN.com. Robinson played with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season but was released in March after suffering four concussions in 2012.
Binns reportedly suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Sunday's practice.
Robinson recently signed a five-year, $32.5 million contract with Jacksonville but was released after one disappointing season. He caught just 24 receptions for 252 yards and zero touchdowns in 2012.
He filed a grievance against the Jaguars, hoping to be paid his 2013 base salary of $2.6 million. His 2013 salary was guaranteed for injury until April 5, the newspaper reported. He told the newspaper he "definitely wasn't ready to be cleared" in January when the Jaguars did so, but he is symptom-free now.
In the past week, Robinson also had workouts with the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Detroit Lions.
The Dolphins, who have already spent more than $200 million in free agency this offseason, are looking for another receiving threat off the bench behind starters Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and slot receiver Brandon Gibson.
The Dolphins will open their preseason schedule on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game.
