Bills hold Sammy Watkins out of practice with sore foot

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins did not practice Wednesday because of soreness in his surgically repaired foot.

Coach Rex Ryan told reporters before practice that Watkins was expected to be a limited participant. However, according to a team spokesperson, Watkins told trainers upon arriving at practice that his foot was sore and the team decided to hold him out of practice.

Watkins declined an interview request in the locker room after practice. Ryan is not scheduled to address reporters until after Thursday's practice.

It is not immediately clear if Watkins will be able to practice Thursday or Friday. The team also did not indicate whether Watkins will be available for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders.

The development is potentially concerning for Watkins, who missed nine games because of lingering foot soreness stemming from offseason surgery to repair a broken bone in the left foot.

He said after Sunday's win over Jacksonville -- a game in which he caught three passes for 80 yards -- that he was "feeling great." Ryan said Monday that Watkins came out of the game "fine."
