BOSTON -- Kristaps Porzingis, who did not play in the second half of the Celtics' loss in Game 1 on Monday because of an illness, played 14 minutes off the bench and scored eight points in Boston's 91-90 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 2.

Porzingis, who was upgraded from probable to available about a half-hour before tip-off, entered with 2 minutes, 39 seconds left in the first quarter, marking just his fifth time ever coming off the bench. He was 3-of-5 from the field and had four rebounds.

Porzingis was 0-for-4 in 13 minutes of the first half in Game 1, with four rebounds and an assist.

Coach Joe Mazzulla said Porzingis has ongoing effects from an illness that sidelined him for a stretch of games late during the regular season.

Reserve Sam Hauser sat out Game 2 after spraining his ankle in the series opener. Hauser missed both of his shots in four minutes of action in Game 1.
