De'Aaron Fox's game-tying layup shouldn't have counted, league's L2MR says

De'Aaron Fox's layup off his intentionally missed free throw to send Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves into overtime should not have counted, the league said.

According to the NBA's Last Two Minute Report, the Sacramento Kings' point guard entered the lane before the shot hit the rim, which should have been called a lane violation.

The shot capped a historic comeback by the Kings, who rallied from a 27-point deficit for a 133-129 overtime victory over the Timberwolves.

Sacramento trailed by 17 points with 2:49 left in the fourth quarter before mounting the rally.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, since 1996-97, the first year of play-by-play data, NBA teams entered Monday 0-8,378 when trailing by 17 or more in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime.
