This story appears in the Dec. 14 issue of ESPN The Magazine.

Though he couldn't get the Cavs back to the Finals, LeBron's buzzer-beater in Game 2 vs. Orlando ranks as a career highlight. King James explains why.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas was open in the corner the whole possession, but there was no way I was passing to him. Z's my boy, but I had to get it to The King.

-- Cavaliers guard Mo Williams

"With one second on the clock, I knew we had time to get a shot off. So before we went onto the court, I told Mo Williams, 'It doesn't matter if Hedo Turkoglu cuts me off, I'm coming to get the ball, so just wait for me. Don't look for nobody else. Just wait on me.' Sure enough, when I tried to go for the back door, Turkoglu cut me off. At that point, the only thing I could do was go get the ball at the top of the key. When I let the shot go, I'm thinking, It felt good and it looked good. When it went in, man, I can't even explain what it felt like, hitting a shot like that in front of all those fans. I mean, right before that, you could hear a feather drop on the court. And after, you couldn't hear a building drop. Those are the types of moments you live for."
