A featherweight bout between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar will co-headline UFC Fight Night on Oct. 18, according to UFC president Dana White.
White broke the news of the 145-pound bout to ESPN on Tuesday. The UFC Fight Event is scheduled to take place at TD Garden in Boston, and air on ESPN.
Magomedsharipov (17-1) is considered one of the top prospects in the sport, let alone the 145-pound weight class. The 28-year-old has rolled to a 5-0 record in the UFC, including a decision win against Jeremy Stephens in March.
Originally from Russia and now training alongside Frankie Edgar, Marlon Moraes, Eddie Alvarez and others in New Jersey, Magomedsharipov has finished three of his five UFC opponents.
Kattar (20-3) was always likely to make an appearance on the Boston card, as he fights out of Methuen, Massachusetts. Kattar, 31, is 4-1 since signing with the UFC in 2017. His wins have come against Andre Fili, Shane Burgos, Chris Fishgold and Ricardo Lamas.
A light heavyweight fight between Chris Weidman (14-4) and Dominick Reyes (11-0) is scheduled to headline the event.
