With an MLB season that's 162 games long, there are plenty of chances for teams to rack up wins or losses in the standings. When those wins are chained together, it can be a thrilling time for fans and the sport as a whole. In 2025, the Los Angeles Dodgers built on their 2024 World Series triumph by securing the longest winning streak by a reigning champion to start a season (at 8-0).
Despite their early success, the Dodgers' streak is nowhere close to the all-time record. Here are the longest winning streaks in MLB history.
New York Giants, 26 (1916)
Cleveland Guardians, 22 (2017)
Chicago Cubs, 21 (1935)
Chicago White Stockings, 21 (1880)
Oakland Athletics, 20 (2002)
Providence Grays, 20 (1884)
New York Yankees, 19 (1947)
Chicago White Sox, 19 (1906)
