In May 2025, the Colorado Rockies claimed the worst 50-game start in MLB's modern era, with an 8-42 record. The Rockies are on pace to lose 136 games this season, which would pass the 1899 Cleveland Spiders (20-134) for the most losses by an MLB team.
The Chicago White Sox struggled at an even greater historical level during the 2024 season. At the end of September, the White Sox broke the modern MLB era record for most losses in a season.
