MLB's annual trade deadline arrives on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, an occasion that has seen a lot of player movement in recent seasons. On deadline day in 2022, 30 trades were completed, and in 2021, 27 got done, so the expectation is that Tuesday -- before even mentioning the days ahead of it -- will be a busy day on the trade front.

That means bracing for the impact of team and role changes, especially among team rotations, as starting pitching tends to be the focal point of fantasy managers' weekly lineup planning. Among the pitchers on the trade market, the Boston Red Sox's James Paxton, Chicago Cubs' Marcus Stroman and Kyle Hendricks, Detroit Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez and Michael Lorenzen, New York Mets' Justin Verlander, St. Louis Cardinals' Jack Flaherty and San Diego Padres' Blake Snell have all been heavily rumored on the trading block, putting their Week 17 assignments somewhat in question.

Stroman is a projected two-start pitchers for his current team, but bearing in mind that players need travel time to reach their new teams, as well as decisions made on their new schedules once the deals are done, each is at risk of losing his second start (and having his initial matchup changed).

As you plan your Week 17 lineups, bear in mind the potential lost time for players traveling to new teams, as well as these rotation shifts. The deadline arrives two hours and 40 minutes before Tuesday night's action, so any last-minute deal would also take any swapped hitters out of that day's equation, plus change their rest-of-week matchups.

Among the most-rumored hitters on the trading block are the Cubs' Cody Bellinger, White Sox's Tim Anderson, Colorado Rockies' C.J. Cron, Randal Grichuk and Elias Diaz, Cardinals' Paul DeJong and Tyler O'Neill and Washington Nationals' Jeimer Candelario.
