The Call of Duty League announced the dates for the Call of Duty League Championship on Tuesday.
The full double-elimination tournament will begin on Wednesday Aug. 19 at 3:00 p.m. ET/noon PT and run until the top four teams remain on Aug. 23. On Aug. 29-30, those four remaining teams will play each other for the championship title.
The league also announced a Call of Duty League Challengers Last-Chance Qualifier that will take place Aug. 1-2, with a dedicated broadcast for the finals on Aug. 15-16. Online competitions will be held in North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe for a $500,000 prize pool.
Previously, on July 5, the league stated that the remainder of the season, including the championship, which was going to be a LAN event, would be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In their midseason update, the league announced they would be reformatting the championship to a double-elimination tournament bracket including all 12 Call of Duty League teams. The top two teams will automatically be seeded into the third round of the winners' bracket, with the third and fourth place teams seeded into the second round of that same bracket. Fifth through eighth place in the league will be seeded into the first round of the winners' bracket and the remaining teams will battle it out in the elimination bracket to start the tournament.
Currently, the Atlanta FaZe hold the top position in the Call of Duty League standings with 250 points, followed closely by the Chicago Huntsmen at 220. The Florida Mutineers (200), Dallas Empire (190), and New York Subliners (130) round out the top five with two tournaments left in the season before the championship. The next event is the London Royal Ravens' home series, which begins on Friday.
