An all-women card in New York on Friday was packed with action and a few surprises.
Katie Taylor retained her undisputed junior welterweight championship with a victory over Amanda Serrano in their trilogy fight. Taylor won by majority decision in a fight she controlled from the start. She keeps her No. 1 spot in the division, while Serrano drops one place to No. 3.
Chantelle Cameron defended her WBC interim junior welterweight title with a one-sided unanimous decision victory over Jessica Camara to take the No. 2 spot.
Also on the card, Alycia Baumgardner took care of a game Jennifer Miranda with a unanimous decision win to retain her undisputed junior lightweight championship and the No. 1 spot. Miranda stays at No. 5 after a good performance.
Super middleweight Shadasia Green scored an upset victory over former undisputed champion Savannah Marshall to unify the IBF and WBO world titles. After starting slowly and losing a point in Round 4 for excessive holding, Green took over the fight and earned a split decision to move to the No. 1 spot in the division. Marshall, who fought for the first time in two years, re-enters the rankings at No. 4.
Cherneka Johnson had another impressive performance in a ninth-round TKO of Shurretta Metcalf to unify the IBF and WBA bantamweight titles. She moves up to take over the division, while Metcalf drops two spots to No. 5.
And Ellie Scotney dominated Yamileth Mercado in a great fight to become the undisputed junior featherweight champion. She stays at No. 1 while Mercado falls two spots to No. 4.
Rankings are updated every Tuesday. They're based on recent bouts, head-to-head competition and the quality of opponent. As with almost everything, until fighters square off against one another, there is a layer of subjectivity to it. Fighters who haven't fought in 18 months and don't have a fight scheduled will be removed from the rankings until they fight again.
