Bbq Olivers came away with a decisive 2-1 victory over Ever8 Winners on Sunday in Seoul, South Korea to open Day 5 of Week 5 of League of Legends Champions Korea.

Ever8 (1-9, 6-18 match record) started this series with a questionable triple carry composition against the heavy teamfighting composition from bbq. While this isn't a bad thing in theory, execution is key in a matchup like this, and Ever8 lacked that from the start. Ever8 got off to a rough start when it tried to dive on the bot lane tower, and was swiftly picked apart to the tune of three deaths at the hands of bbq. This ended up being an omen of things to come, as bbq (2-8, 6-18 match record) executed its composition to perfection all throughout the game. In particular, top laner Kim "Crazy" Jae-hee's Renekton and AD carry Jang "Ghost" Yong-jun's Twitch were going off, with both players having five kills by the 22-minute mark. These kills led directly into supreme objective control for bbq, which allowed it to eventually grab the Baron and use the buff to decimate Ever8's base to lock up the 28-minute win.

Ever8 made the necessary adjustments in Game 2, and it started with drafting a more teamfighting focused composition. This alone isn't enough to win, however, as the engagements have to be on point as well. Ever8 did just that from the start of the game. Despite the fights happening in questionable locations nowhere near major objectives, Ever8 dominated the fights regardless of location. In particular, mid laner Park "Cepted" Wi-Rim's Orianna was fed with four kills by 15 minutes. As the game progressed, bbq tried its best to try and get back in, but every time, Ever8 cut the Olivers down to size. Ever8 took both Barons in the game with ease, and used the second Baron to take the eventual 41-minute victory.

Riding the momentum from the Game 2, Ever8 opened the final game with a first blood before it all came tumbling down. With a late-game composition in tow, Ever8 began to succumb to the early pressure of bbq. The Olivers quickly traded back the early first blood from Ever8 and then began to swarm all over the map. Ever8 was completely unable to do anything to stop the immense pressure coming out of bbq, which resulted in a 5,000-gold lead by the 20-minute mark. Once bbq took down the Baron 24 minutes in, there was simply no way for Ever8 to stop the onslaught. Bbq ended the game having only given up two kills and no towers in what was a dominating 28-minute win.

Ever8 will next hit the Rift on Tuesday, July 11 at 7 a.m. ET to take on Samsung Galaxy, while bbq takes on Longzhu Gaming on Thursday, July 13 at 4 a.m. ET.
