The 16 teams that will be competing in Rocket League Championship Series over the next six weeks have been decided as the qualifiers wrapped up this past weekend. The RLCS kicks off Saturday, March 18.
The big story of RLCS qualifiers is Iris and PENTA. Iris, considered NA's best hope against international competition, lost resoundingly 3-1 to Radiance; the upstarts then moved on to knock Atelier down to the losers bracket. Iris then was eliminated a surging Selfless, which moved on to qualify over Ohana. PENTA on the other hand suffered a shocking defeat to Red Eye before being eliminated by 4th seed Mock-it.
Everything else went as expected with World Champions FlipSid3 making a return alongside perennial powerhouses Northern Gaming and Mock-it Esports. For North America, top dogs NRG and G2 comfortably qualified once more. The new Genesis roster also made it through as a team some thought could struggle under pressure. League play will take place over the next six weekends before moving on to regional championships.
