Halfway through the open qualifiers, compLexity has proven to be consistently in the top four teams that vie for the direct path into the round of eight in the Overwatch NGE Winter Premiere. Today, they achieve their goal after fighting an incredible grueling set of games against both Team Liquid and Luminosity, who knocked Fnatic out of today's qualifier early on in the day.
While you can praise compLexity for their consistency and resilience, they must also be praised for their insistence in making Sombra work for them on the competitive level, as every day thus far they have attempted to utilize the newest hero in Overwatch to their advantage. compLexity also demonstrates their willingness to adapt instead of playing the sly hacker; Jake "torkTJO" Lepoff used Tracer for their offense because Kevin "AZK" Lariviere has been one of the sharpest tools in Team Liquid's repertoire and has played a mean defensive Tracer, and Sombra wasn't going to cut it this time. This entire set can be described as a battle for the title of whose Tracer is better as torkTJO and AZK's Tracers became the focal point of each skirmish, with torkTJO bringing the victory to compLexity.
Without too much time to rest, they faced off against Luminosity fresh off wins against Fnatic, Splyce and Immortals; so despite the fact that Luminosity's teamwork in-game seems more like they're in ranked competitive play instead of an organized team, compLexity couldn't deny the momentum that was being built up. They took a 2-0 lead in the best of five finals against Luminosity, but Arthur "Eissfeldt" Marx had other plans. Eissfeldt played Tracer almost every map and was the key to winning Road 66, and almost single-handedly carried the rest of Luminosity through to the end of Watchpoint: Gibraltar. He remained nearly untouched while flanking the rest of compLexity and without Eissfeldt, Luminosity would have lost a lot sooner than they did, especially as torkTJO pulled off the most heroic Translocator toss to over the entire Luminosity squad to land a six person EMP. That EMP was the final key to securing compLexity's victory and guaranteed spot in the round of eight alongside Kingdom eSports and Cloud9.
