Team SoloMid confirms IEM Oakland attendance

Silicon Valley continues to make its way into esports by investing in one of the oldest teams in the North American League Championship Series. Provided by Riot Games

Team SoloMid's 2016 League of Legends season is not over, as the North American League Championship Series team has been confirmed as a participant at Intel Extreme Masters Oakland.

Team SoloMid previously announced it would not compete at IEM Oakland following AD Carry Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng's decision to take a break for the 2017 NA LCS spring split. But the tournament website confirmed on Tuesday that the NA LCS dynasty will participate in the event.

It is not yet known who will play the ADC position for TSM, which will look to gain momentum following a disappointing performance at the 2016 World Championships.

Team SoloMid entered Worlds as one of the favorites to win, but failed to advance from Group D. Eventual finalists Samsung Galaxy and China's Royal Never Give Up prevailed and kept the Americans out of the next round.

TSM joins Taiwan's Flash Wolves, Europe's Unicorns of Love and wild-card teams INTZ e-Sports and Chiefs eSports Club as confirmed participants at the tournament, according to the IEM website. The event is scheduled for Nov. 19-20 and teams will compete for $100,000 in prize money divided among the eight participating teams.
