Syed Modi International - Day 2 update
The singles competition began today in earnest, after qualifiers and a few doubles matches yesterday. The big news was that Kidmabi Srikanth, arguably the biggest Indian name participating in the ongoing Super 300 in Lucknow, was knocked out in the first round earlier today. (read more below).
Young Unnati Hooda, who beat Aakarshi Kashyap, has a tough clash next with Japan's former world champion Nozomi Okuhara next, who had to fight to Malvika Bansod in a thriller. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, absent from the BWF Tour for a while, made a winning comeback.

ISL Update - Kerala Blasters draw 3-3 with Chennaiyin FC in riveting clash
Kerala Blasters fought back from two goals down to draw 3-3 against Chennaiyin FC Jordan Murray and Dimitrios Diamantakos scored twice for either side in a game that was end-to-end from beginning to end.

Shooting: Sift, Ganemat, Anantjeet win national titles
Reigning Asian Games gold medallist Sift Kaur Samra cinched her second straight women's 50m rifle 3-positions title, getting the better of senior Punjab state-mate and Olympian Anjum Moudgil in the National Shooting Championship in Delhi.
Sift shot 465.7 in the final to clinch gold, pushing Anjum (463.8) to second spot. Ashi Chouksey of Madhya Pradesh came third with a score of 452.
Ganemat Sekhon and Anantjeet Singh Naruka, India's number one women's and men's skeet shooters at present, also capped a good by year by winning their first individual senior national titles at the Karni Singh Ranges.
Earlier this year, Ganemat won two medals including a gold and silver in ISSF World Cups while Anantjeet won an Asian Games silver in men's skeet at Hangzhou. PTI

Srikanth suffers loss
Well, well.
Kidambi Srikanth, top-ranked Indian in the men's singles at the Syed Modi International tournament, suffered first round defeat against Chia Hao Lee on Chinese Taipei 23-21, 21-8.
As the scores show, the first game was a close one and Srikanth had the opportunity to clinch it but eventually lost. The second game was one-sided contest, Lee rushed away with points gave no chance for Srikanth to make a comeback.
In other results, Unnati Hooda defeated Aakarshi Kashyap in a three-game close contest 15-21, 21-19, 21-18. Japan's Nozomi Okuhara overcame the challenge from Malvika Bansod and made a strong comeback after losing the opening game -- 18-21, 21-17, 21-10 -- to progress to the second round.
