Darts player Sandro Eric Sosing was forced to withdraw from the PDC World Darts Championship on Friday after experiencing chest pains before his first-round match.
Sosing, one of four Filipino players at the tournament, was set to take on Ian White at Alexandra Palace but fell ill during practice. After initially being assessed on-site, Sky Sports commentators confirmed he had been taken to hospital.
In a statement, the PDC said: "Sandro Eric Sosing has withdrawn from his match with Ian White on medical grounds.
"Sosing reported chest pains while practicing and following an on-site assessment by medical staff he has been taken for further treatment."
White received a bye and will face Ritchie Edhouse in the second round, with the winner of that match likely to play rising star Luke Littler should he emerge from his match-up on Saturday.
The Sosing withdrawal meant there only three matches took place in Friday's afternoon session, with Stephen Bunting the most high-profile player in action. Bunting advanced with a 3-1 win over debutant Kai Gotthardt.
