6:45pm Another powerful and bruising batting display by the world champions. Healy departed early, but Litchfield rose to the occasion, crafting a hundred of immense quality. Perry played second-fiddle and got herself to 77, but a few quick wickets through the middle meant that Australia had to then rely on Gardner's pyrotechnics to go past 330, even though at one stage, it felt they would cruise to a 350-plus score.
India, consequently, might feel they have done well to pull Australia back. The question, though, is if they have pulled them back enough. Charani was the pick of the bowlers but the rest struggled to assert any sort of sustained authority. Which means they now have a huge pile of runs to hunt down. But this is a decent track to bat on, and if there is dew and if batting under lights gets a little easier, India may feel they have a shot. Join us in a bit for the restart.
Phoebe Litchfield: It was awesome - for the personal milestone, from the team perspective, nice to get over 300 and put a competitive total on the board. (What worked) Just assessing the wicket, taking down the spinners when they bowled into my areas. Credit also to Pez to keep me going. Full team effort to get to 338. (On the switch hit/reverse sweep) I usually hit there because the fielders are not there. (On the score) We would have taken that at the start out there. But probably left a few runs out there.
