11:20pm That will be all from us tonight. We will be back tomorrow, though, with the mega clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Until then, this is goodbye from Chetan, myself and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo. Take care, folks!
Mohammed Siraj, Player of the Match: When you come to your home ground, it is a different feeling. Family is also watching, and that also gives you confidence. (On his previous game in Bengaluru) I had played seven years there, there were ups and downs when I was (playing for RCB). The work I have done, in my bowling, fielding and mindset is helping me. At the start (of the break), I could not digest. But then I was explaining to myself that I have so many things planned. It (selection for Champions Trophy) was not to be, but I concentrated on my mindset, my fitness. Enjoying my bowling now. When you are not selected (for the Indian team), it does cross your mind (if you are good enough), but I wanted to be ready for the IPL. When you are executing exactly what you want to do, that is when you are on top. When the ball is listening to you and doing exactly what you want, that gives a different feeling and it feels really enjoyable.
Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans captain: Bowlers are game-changers, especially in this format. Lot of people talk about T20s, batting and hitting, but we think matches are won by bowlers and that is why a lot of emphasis on bowlers (in this franchise). (On if he tried to use his Test match technique during the powerplay) You still have to play cricketing shots - that was the chat between me and Washington. To have good intent and play some shots on the floor. He was very close (to playing) in the game against Mumbai. He was padded the whole game, but with the Impact Player rule, it gives you an opportunity to play someone else (if you need an extra bowler). It was all about having a good partnership, and we said once we are set, we will take it from there. The energy he (Siraj) brings is tremendous. When playing against him, you want him in your team. His energy is infectious.
Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain: Not a traditional Hyderabad wicket, tough to get fluency in your innings. At the end there, it did not spin as much as we thought. A few (runs) short and they batted well. (On Simarjeet being their Impact Player) It was between him and (Rahul) Chahar. During their bowling innings, it felt like pace-bowling was tough to get away, so went with Simarjeet.
Washington Sundar: Skipper kept telling me to play as deep as possible. Got off to a good start and wanted to bat as deep as possible and finish for the team. This has been the trend in Hyderabad in the last few years. In the second innings, the wicket gets better and easier to chase 160-170 on the board. I was well aware of it and it helped me. (On his batting position) Coach asked me to go in at four after we lost a couple of wickets (early). Great opportunity for me and went well (for me).
10:57pm Another one-sided contest, and from a GT POV, another almost spotless display. Gill was front and centre of the run-chase, alongside Washington, who was promoted to number four. Both of them found the fence with ease and made batting look ridiculously simple on a surface that troubled almost everyone else. Washington could not stick around till the end, but his skipper did, and the Titans will look back at this performance with a beaming smile.
Another evening to forget for SRH, meanwhile. Their much-vaunted batting unit could not come to grips with the pace of the surface. They began much better with the ball, but the lack of depth, especially once Shami and Cummins bowled their respective opening spells, was rather glaring. That may be something they look at going forward, but with each passing game and with each demoralizing loss, there may be a sense that time is running out.
Just six more needed. Around the wicket
