Then Sampath adds to the drama, recalling a similar incident where Mujeeb Ur Rahman hit a six off Taskin Ahmed and then was also dismissed hit wicket a couple of years ago!

Shai Hope: "We assessed the conditions a little bit better today. Obviously, we would have wanted a higher score, but I thought having wickets in hand gave us the impetus we needed at the back end. Rovman Powell played a brilliant innings in his 100th T20I; it's great to see him come in and make that impact. It's nice when everything falls into place. When you set a lot of plans and everyone comes out and executes those same plans, it's a lot easier, especially as a skipper. I just need to set the field, and everything falls into place. Credit goes to the guys; they raised their hands today in all departments, and I'm happy to see the result we got today."

Player of the Match, Rovman Powell: "At the end of the innings, I was really pleased. It was difficult for me to start on the wicket; at one point, I was about 7 off 20 deliveries. But I just kept believing that if I could get a good shot, a good boundary, I would turn it around. We just needed to go as deep as possible. It isn't easy for guys to just come in and start hitting the ball; they need a few deliveries under their belt. Fortunately for the captain and me, by the 18th over, we had some balls under our belt, so we could maximize the scoring. It was a grand innings, and I'm happy we entertained everybody."

Litton Das: "I thought they [West Indies] batted really well in the first 10 overs. The wicket was on the slower side. If we had taken early wickets, they would have been under pressure. Ending the game in the 19th over is part of cricket. Someone comes in the last over, they will hit. It happens in cricket. The main thing is that we have to execute our death overs better, whoever bowls them. On the batting side, I think we lost too many wickets in the Powerplay. I was very upset regarding Shamim Hossain's batting. He has to think about it; you can't come and just enjoy the batting all the time. You have to take responsibility. We bowled really well for the entire match, except the last over. We have to take a couple of catches because they fielded really well and took some serious catches. We need to learn from the mistakes we made today and come back strongly for the next one."

9:45 pm The West Indies earned a well-fought win and take a crucial 1-0 lead in the three-match series! Bangladesh started the run chase with a bang, as Tanzid Hasan smashed a six and a four off Akeal Hosein's first over. However, they quickly ran into trouble. Tanzid threw his wicket away in the second over, trying to be overly aggressive with the bat. The home team lost quick, back-to-back wickets in the Powerplay, with Litton Das falling to a soft dismissal. Both early dismissals were courtesy of individual brilliance in the field, first from Romario Shepherd and then from Akeal Hosein. When the dangerous Saif Hassan was out next, Bangladesh had lost four wickets and failed to build any genuine partnership. Hridoy attempted to anchor the innings but couldn't carry on after scoring 28 runs. The chase saw a brief flicker of hope when Tanzim Sakib was given a life after Jayden Seales missed a run-out chance, and then Shai Hope dropped a catch off Nasum Ahmed. Sakib seized the moment, smashing 16 runs off Shepherd's 14th over, causing the fans to erupt. His heroic knock ended after scoring 33 off 27 balls. Ultimately, the failure of the top and middle order meant that the late cameos from the lower order were not enough to get Bangladesh over the line. Jason Holder and Jayden Seales were the chief destroyers with three wickets each, while Akeal Hosein picked up two, sealing the win for the visitors.
