2.24pm South Africa looked to be done and dusted before lunch and Pakistan were eyeing a big lead. But the lower order has turned this around and how! Senuran Muthusamy led the fightback with an unbeaten 89. He had good support from Keshav Maharaj, with whom he added 71 runs but the real rearguard action was when KG Rabada came out and wielded the willow like he owned the place. He smashed his highest Test score of 71 and the highest by any South African batter at No. 11. Muthusamy and Rabada added 98 runs for the last wicket which has given South Africa a sizeable 71-run lead. Asif Afridi was immaculate on debut, picking up 6 for 79 in 34.3 overs, but Pakistan had to toil for those last two wickets.
Djassies: "Rabada's innings reminds me of Dale Steyn's 76 knock against Australia in 2008"
UmarGul: "SA last 5 batters added 204 as opposed to Pak tailenders failure (continuously) and that could be a triumphant difference in this match."
Talha Ahmed: "When Pakistan concede a lead from an unexpected position, it is usually followed by a batting collapse. "
Hamza: "What a series for Senuran, His bowling best in Lahore, his batting best in Rawalpindi."
