Thank you for your company throughout this match and series! This is Rvel, signing off on behalf of Rashad. Goodbye and goodnight from the cricinfo desk
Player of the Tournament, Ibrahim Zadran: I didn't think much about the hundred, tried to give my best for the team. Unfortunately missed hundred but it's part of the game. Whenever we bat, we enjoy a lot, we have been playing together, we like each other, trust each other. The wicket was quite tough, it wasn't easy. I was taking my time and brought my practice into the game, applied my (learnings), kept things simple and it was all about giving my 100 percent
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Bangladesh Captain: We accept that we haven't played well in this series. We are not getting the runs, we had opportunities but we didn't take it. Everybody accepted that we are not playing well. They have a good bowling attack but we have to handle it. We are worried about particular areas like giving away too many wickets. We have to take responsibility in the top and middle order and then towards the end. We will talk about how we can get better. We have to play 50 overs, last three matches we have not been able to do that. Played ODI series after a long time
Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan Captain: Very happy with the performance, not easy making top position and whitewash. Everybody put their efforts to produce this result. We were struggling with fast bowlers, I think Hamid Hassan's efforts paid off today because Bilal bowled really well today. This is a positive sign and we were missing this in the past but we did well in this series. (About Zimbabwe series) Some of the players were busy practising in Jalalabad for the upcoming series. After a long time we will play a Test match and we are ready for that
Afghanistan have found their mojo and clicked as a unit in this series after their struggles in T20 cricket -- a complete contrast in ODIs and they look right at home in this format. Sami picked up a fifer and took the wind out of Bangladesh's sails. After putting 293 on the board, the odds were in their favor, with Rashid looking to exploit the conditions and he was the one who started the rot, striking with his very first ball of the spell and then picking wickets at regular intervals. Sami kept bowling with venom and accuracy across his short bursts, chipping in with regular incisions. Apart from Saif Hassan, nobody even got into double figures, so this would be a morale-crushing defeat for Bangladesh as they were looking for a consolation win to take some confidence into the busy few weeks of cricket ahead
Hans: "Bilal Sami is a great finding for Afghanistan for upcoming games and tournaments, especially considering Naveenulhaq's condition and unavailability of a consistent and wicket taking pace bowler. I hope he can continue his form and the team give him more opportunities. "
Naresh: "Afghanistan's rise in cricket feels like a movie -- from Division 5 to Test status in just a decade. Here's hoping Nepal scripts a similar fairytale soon!"
