7:50 pm A target over 250 has only been chased down six times in Abu Dhabi earlier. However, the Bangladesh camp will be frustrated by how the innings ended, especially after the carnage in the final two overs. Afghanistan started with positive intent, with Ibrahim Zadran getting an early life in the third over when Naim Sheikh dropped him at slip. The opening pair took full advantage, scoring 66 runs in the first ten overs. The 99-run opening stand was finally broken by Tanvir Islam, who dismissed Gurbaz just before drinks. Zadran and Atal then settled into a steady 74-run partnership, seemingly cruising toward a massive total. Bangladesh fought back through spin. Saif Hassan was brought into the attack and immediately deceived Atal, forcing a simple catch back to the bowler. In a moment of high drama, the momentum completely turned when a disastrous miscommunication resulted in Ibrahim Zadran being run out on 95 runs; his second consecutive dismissal on that score. Saif struck again in his next over, clean bowled the struggling Alikhil. Despite the excellent disciplined spin bowling that restricted runs in the middle, the final overs were brutal. After Nahid Rana walked off with an injury, Mehidy Hasan Miraz had to bowl the remaining four deliveries of the penultimate over, conceding 22 runs, including three mammoth sixes. Mohammad Nabi finished the job with sheer power hitting, remaining unbeaten with 62 runs off 37 balls and scoring 41 runs in the last 10 deliveries of the innings. The pitch has been offering lots of turn and extra bounce for the spinners. Saif Hassan bowled a world-class spell, picking up 3 wickets in four overs and conceding only six runs, making many viewers wonder why he wasn't allowed to bowl more overs. It will be a challenging task for the struggling Bangladesh batting unit to chase this target down against the quality Afghan spinners. We will be back after the break, so don't go anywhere!
